Job Description Summary:
Provides supervision responsibility for all Security related activities. Supervises FTE contracted security personnel. The Security Operations Supervisor is responsible for the development, staffing, training, evaluation of personnel, policy and procedure development and related hospital competency-based exercises related to the Secure Environment Program. This position will serve as a liaison between the contract security services agency and the Marin General Hospital Security Department and is responsible for ensuring that the necessary information is communicated to the Director of Safety & Security. The Security Operations Supervisor will serve as the chairperson for the Secure Environment Management Program Committee under direction and guidance of the Safety Officer within the Environment of Care.

Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma, Associates or Bachelors degree in Administrative Justice preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in the security field preferred.

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Reg Guard/Patrolman Required at hire
Calif Drivers Class C (CALC) Required at hire
Integrative Agitation Management (IAM) Required within 30 days of hire

PREREQUISITE SKILLS:

  1. Good writing and verbal skills.
  2. Sensitivity and responsiveness to needs of staff, patients and visitors with emphasis on good customer relations.
  3. Demonstrated self-starter and resourceful approach to problem resolutions.
  4. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise in-house and contracted staff using a variety of skills to coach, develop and motivate staff to work as a team.
  5. Ability to work effectively and tactfully with patients and their families, visitors, vendors, staff, physicians, and other Departmental personnel.
  6. Ability to act with sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of Hospital patients and visitors, particularly the elderly or disturbed individuals.
  7. Ability to continuously demonstrate good customer relations.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  9. Ability to function within a high-stress environment with changing priorities.
  10. Ability to operate a computer terminal.
