Job summary

Wawa, Inc. in Westminster, MD is hiring a Supervisor of Internal Technicians to oversee inspection and maintenance of stores in the assigned area, balancing human and equipment resources to meet SLA and customer service goals.

You will lead a 12-14 person team, ensure safety and maintenance of fleet and equipment, coordinate repairs with vendors, and act as project manager for large site projects while communicating status to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of management experience in a construction or manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and corporate software packages.

Job description

Position Summary

The Supervisor of Internal Technicians is responsible for the inspection and maintenance of stores in assigned area. Responsible for efficient utilization of human resources and equipment to meet agreed customer service demands. Identifies areas for service level of cost improvement changes. Shares best practices across Internal Tech leadership team to ensure application across all teams.

Principal Duties
  • Manage and lead team of approximately 12-14 associates to complete agreed store services within cost and service level agreement (SLA) parameters.
  • Structures development opportunity for staff associates.
  • Manage and is responsible to ensure the proper safety and maintenance of a fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment including vans, power washing truck, bucket truck and line striping equipment.
  • Inspect all stores assigned to ensure that corporate standards are met for building, painting, landscaping, lot, equipment, plumbing, electric and lighting.
  • Ensure off-standard conditions are properly rectified.
  • Foster and maintain a positive relationship with store operations in assigned area.
  • Work with Vendor Managers to assess stores’ needs and make recommendations for repair and replacement to site, building and equipment.
  • Serve as Project Manager for large site projects coordinating, scheduling, collaborating and providing cross functional oversight for store operations, internal and external vendors during repair, construction or installation projects.
  • Communicate status to all impacted persons and departments.
  • Make decisions that have a large financial impact.
  • Maintain and manage all inventory repair and maintenance items stocked in tech vans and warehouses needed to support assigned stores.
  • Make recommendations for store improvements and closings by performing site and building inspections and providing estimates on potential repair costs.
  • Serve as a Facilities liaison between Real Estate, Legal and Marketing.
  • Manage the preparation and coordination of stores for openings, closings and project work to inspect contractor work and asset movement.
  • Maintain and submit all necessary administrative requirements as determined by the Internal Tech Manager in an orderly and timely manner to include invoicing, inventory and payroll documents.
  • Responsible for responding to emergency calls.
  • Provide on-site support when necessary to resolve issues.
  • Lead completion of demand work orders with prescribed SLAs, productivity and efficiency.
  • Manage completion of preventative maintenance programs to standard and within budget.
  • Identify opportunities for process or service improvements that support company strategic objectives.
  • Identify and communicate service integration opportunities that favorably impact service quality, service level, or cost.
  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvements related to store repair and maintenance activities.
  • Provide overall direction and support for team and monitor and assess individual work in accordance with high standards of excellence.
  • Provide feedback, coaching, support, opportunities for development, complete performance appraisals, take corrective action when appropriate, and participate in hiring decisions.

  • Requires 75% local travel.
  • Must participate in the Facilities on-call schedule rotation.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 72 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 lbs occasionally.
  • May be asked to perform the following physical actions occasionally: standing, crouching, bending, reaching above the shoulders, reaching below the waist, reaching horizontally, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping firmly.
  • May be asked to withstand extreme environmental temperatures (hot and cold).
  • May have to work in extremely wet conditions occasionally.
  • Remain current with industry trends and codes related to building and site.
  • Work in accordance with all Wawa Safety, OSHA and ANSI standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of management experience, preferably in a construction or manufacturing setting.
  • Trade experience in carpentry, light plumbing, and food service equipment repairs, as well as technical training in HVAC, refrigeration and technology.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and corporate software packages.
  • The projected range for this position is $60,000-80,000 and is commensurate with position, experience, and location.
  • Associates in this position are eligible for a yearly bonus incentive.
