Job summary

Springbrook Psychiatric Hospital is seeking a Director of Social Services to oversee the hospital's social work department and therapy services. You will lead clinical operations, supervise staff, and monitor the quality and appropriateness of services delivered to patients.

Responsibilities include coordinating intake, psychosocial assessments, discharge planning, staff training, chart compliance, and cross‑functional collaboration with clinical and administrative teams.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree (MSW) in Social Work from an accredited school.
• Three years of clinical psychiatric experience with at least one year in supervisory/administrative roles.
• License preferred; if not possessed, must be qualified by education and training in social services for the mentally ill.
• Experience across inpatient, partial, outpatient, hospital or residential settings.
• Experience and knowledge of supervision.
• Expertise in mental health treatment and chemical dependency including co-occurring disorders.
• Experience with age-specific populations and special needs groups.

As a key leader in our mental health facility, you will be responsible for providing monitoring, supervision, and evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of social services furnished.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership, management, and supervision to the social services department


• Monitor, supervise, and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of social services furnished, including intake or admission screening, psychosocial assessment, high-social risk case finding, and discharge planning process


• Ensure continuity of care in the provision of comprehensive services and facilities, and coordinates communication with other Social Service Staff


• Provide ongoing, appropriate training to Social Service staff and patients


• Review all admissions for appropriate therapist assignment


• Coordinate schedule changes, staff coverage, and group clinical format


• Ensure quality assurance in Social Services' delivery, including clinical care and documentation


• Provide ongoing active review of chart documentation to ensure compliance with Social Work functions


• Provide regular reports to the Director of Clinical Services

Requirements

• Master's Degree (MSW) in Social Work from an Accredited School


• Three (3) years of clinical experience in a psychiatric setting with at least one (1) year of supervisory/administrative experience


• License preferred, but if does not possess, must be qualified by education and training in the social service needs of the mentally ill


• Experience with multiple treatment settings (inpatient, partial, outpatient, hospital or residential-based)


• Experience and knowledge of supervision


• Expertise in all facets of mental health treatment and chemical dependency with demonstrated knowledge of special population needs, including persons with co-occurring disorders


• Must possess education, training, or work experience with specific age populations and special needs groups
