Job summary

Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) seeks a Supervisor, Managed Care Unit to oversee form reviews for Nonprofit Health Service Plans, HMOs, and Dental Plan Organizations. The role directs analysts, ensures review quality, and trains staff on new contract types in a rapidly changing regulatory environment.

The position is in Baltimore City or Hybrid (office and telework), open to current MIA employees, with responsibilities spanning compliance, education, and coordination with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five years experience drafting or analyzing benefit contracts, provider contracts, and other form filings for a regulatory agency, or licensed insurer.
• Master's degree in a related field or a law degree, and/or FLMI designation can supplement qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversees form reviews performed by the Managed Care Unit.
• Assigns review of benefit contracts, provider contracts, and other form filings to insurance analysts.
• Evaluates the quality of form review and trains staff to review new contract types.
• Integrates new legislation/regulations into the form review process for HMOs, nonprofit plans, and dental plans.
• Responds to technical questions from employees, insurers, the public, and other staff.
