Job summary

The Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) is recruiting a Complaints Investigator III in the Life and Health Division to handle consumer complaints related to life and health insurance. You will read complaints, identify issues, and ask insurers written questions. You will analyze responses, apply laws, and determine if a violation occurred.

You will assist callers and help prepare hearings as needed. Ideal candidates have a background in insurance compliance within a regulatory setting,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Three years of experience in insurance compliance for a regulatory agency or insurer.
Additional substitution options include LOMA or AHIP exams or related combinations as described in the job posting.

Responsibilities

Investigate consumer complaints concerning life and health insurance issues.
Read and analyze complaints, read policies and documents, and identify issues.
Ask insurers written questions and review responses to determine if laws were violated.
Explain the reasons for no violation to complainants in writing and assist callers with guidance.
