Job description

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Supervisor Maintenance at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for providing materials, equipment and supplies by directing the daily supervision of all Facility or Operations maintenance related functions and issues.

Essential Functions
  • Address and handle responsibilities in a safe, appropriate, and timely manner
  • Serve as technical advisor on repairing and maintaining heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical, and physical structure or Manufacturing and Warehouse equipment
  • Oversee, assign, and prioritize daily tasks to maintenance associates utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) system
  • Directly supervise various levels of team members by setting the tone for the team environment and providing individualized/team coaching, training, and mentoring while maintaining departmental performance and driving continuous improvements
  • Participate in recruiting activities, interview, hire, train, and evaluate performance for the team
  • Supervise the Preventative Maintenance and Installation processes within scope of responsibility
  • Coordinate with vendors on contractual work
  • Perform annual reviews of Lock out tag out (LOTO) procedure
  • Collect, implement, manage and meet departmental goals and metrics and implement process improvements to improve productivity
  • Perform and fill in for all tasks of the individuals reporting to this position for absences when necessary
  • Manage workflow and shift resources and equipment as required to accommodate workload and monitor/audit for compliance with established procedures
  • Facilitate scheduled departmental meetings
  • Communicate directly with the Maintenance Management on a routine basis any maintenance issues and assist Management in prioritizing strategic projects
  • Ensure closeout of completed work orders, verify completed work, and inspect completed work for conformance to specifications
  • Communicate, coordinate and assist Maintenance staff when needed for special projects
  • Requisition needed tools, equipment and supplies
  • Ability to perform and supervise trouble shooting, preventative maintenance (PM) and repair of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and machinery
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull 200 pounds
  • Respond to emergency on-call pages
  • Cleanliness zone area requirements: This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment including SD shoes (Static Dissipative Footwear) to be always worn for an entire shift to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and meet specified standards
Facilities
  • Conduct "Daily" site rounds, make visual checks of the facility, check for discrepancies and take necessary actions to correct noted discrepancies
  • Maintain the appearance of GARMIN property
Operations
  • Maintain equipment spare parts balances
  • Ability to safely operate and train staff on powered industrial equipment
Basic Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or Technical School Certification in Electrical, HVAC or Plant OperationAND/OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years leadership experience
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years work experience in facility maintenance and Industrial/Commercial HVAC experience or machine maintenance
  • 120/208/230/460/480-volt, single and three-phase troubleshooting capability
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be positive, detail/quality oriented, organized, analytical, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize/lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment with excellent time management/follow-up skills
  • Demonstrates proficient knowledge of how to use electrical/HVAC test instruments and power/hand tools and demonstrates mechanical aptitude
  • Must possess demonstrated ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull 200 pounds
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
