Job summary

Cox Automotive in Grove City, OH is seeking a Supervisor, Lot Operations to oversee daily lot activities on a Sunday–Thursday schedule. This on-site role requires strong leadership to manage vehicle check-in, lane flow, and yard operations.

You will supervise the lot staff, ensure safe operations, coordinate with reconditioning and fleet departments, and deliver quality customer service while upholding Cox/Manheim values.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required with 5 years in related field (automotive shop preferred).
  • Alternative combinations allowed: degree with fewer years of experience or advanced degrees with minimal experience.
  • Strong communication and supervisory skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily lot operations to ensure efficient activities before and after sale.
  • Supervise vehicle check-in area personnel and lane workflow.
  • Coordinate movement of vehicles from check-in to sale lanes and stock areas.
  • Provide quality service and resolve customer issues as they arise.
  • Inspect and maintain lot operations equipment and ensure proper function.
  • Monitor lot damage and review with Operations Manager regularly.
  • Coordinate with Reconditioning, Check-in, Factory and Fleet/Lease departments.
  • Direct work procedures, schedules, and staffing for lot staff.
  • Counsel and discipline staff; evaluate performance.
  • Uphold safety, model Cox/Manheim values, and enforce policies.
  • Review volumes, plan staffing, and pursue improvement strategies.
  • Lead the location team and ensure respectful treatment of all employees.

Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $50,400.00 - $75,600.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

Work Schedule: This position is based onsite at Grove City, OH, and follows a Sunday through Thursday schedule. Typical hours are 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM Daily end times may vary depending on workload and business demand.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist with lot operations on a daily basis to ensure efficient operations prior to and after sale.
  • Supervise the daily operation of the vehicle check-in area by supervising and coordinating the activities and the workflow of the sale lot drivers, check-in personnel, lane captains and other lot operations employees.
  • Ensure efficient lot operations by coordinating the movement of vehicles from check-in to the sale lanes. Supervise flow to ensure that incoming vehicles are received, stocked-in, numerated and parked in the proper areas.
  • Provide quality service and interact with customers to resolve any problems that may occur.
  • Inspect and maintain lot operations equipment and ensure that it is functional and in good working condition.
  • Monitor lot damage and meet with Operations Manager on a regular basis to review and resolve potential lot operations problems.
  • Coordinate with Reconditioning, Check-in, Factory and Fleet/Lease departments to schedule and prepare vehicles for sale, ensure accurate and efficient vehicle check in and proper sequence of vehicles.
  • Supervise and direct the work of lot operations employees by determining work procedures, preparing work schedules, expediting the workflow, assigning duties and monitoring work for accuracy and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Assist manager in counseling and disciplining employees as necessary. Under the direction of the manager, plan, monitor and evaluate employee job performance, and assist manager in conducting performance appraisals.
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Work in cooperation with safety leadership in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Work with manager to review work volumes, plan and continuously monitor staffing levels to ensure efficiency, quality work product, and effective customer service; review departmental performance against key performance indicators and metrics and develop and execute strategies for improvement.
  • Effectively leads the team at the location by setting an example in behavior, championing Cox/Manheim values and ensuring that all employees are treated with respect.
  • Enforce all company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED and 5 years' experience in a related field (automotive shop preferred). The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 3 years' experience in a related field; a master's degree and 1 year of experience; or a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience.

1+ year of experience in management, supervisory, or lead role.

Minimum of 3 years lot operations experience preferred.

Experience in automobile industry or the Auction business preferred.

Strong communication and interaction skills required.

Competent supervisory and organizational skills required.

Good computer and software knowledge.

Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required.

Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.

Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.

Manual dexterity, repetitive motion tasks.

Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts hazard, electrical shock hazard and toxic or caustic chemicals. Moderate noise level. Exposure to all weather conditions.
