Job summary

CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy is seeking a Lab Supervisor to lead the laboratory team, contribute to annual departmental goals and budget, and ensure ongoing evaluation for continuous improvement.

This role focuses on championing patient care team development, coaching staff, and maintaining high performance through effective communication and professional empathy within a busy laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biological or chemical sciences as defined by CLIA.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a moderate or high complexity laboratory.
• Medical Laboratory Scientist or Med Technologist ASCP certification, or related.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, coaches, and reviews the performance of laboratory personnel to ensure adherence to policies and ethics.
• Oversees designated laboratory day-to-day operations and exercises authority over personnel decisions.
• Analyzes and interprets laboratory results in accordance with established laboratory work processes.
• Verification of the test procedures performed and establishment of the laboratory's test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and test system.
• Establishing a quality control program for testing and parameters for acceptable analytic performance across the testing process.
• Identifying training needs and ensuring staff receive regular in-service training and education.

Education

Bachelor's degree in biological or chemical sciences (as defined by CLIA)

• Establishing a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed and establishing the parameters for acceptable levels of analytic performance and ensuring that these levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process from the initial receipt of the specimen, through sample analysis and reporting of test results
• Identifying training needs and assuring that each individual performing tests receives regular in-service training and education appropriate for the type and complexity of the laboratory services performed

Job Requirements

• Bachelors degree in bilogical or chemical sciences as defined by CLIA
• Minimum of 5 years at a moderate or high complexity laboratory
• Medical Laboratory Scientist or Med Technologist ASCP certification, or related

Preferred

• 1 Year experience as a supervisor or higher
