UF Health is seeking an Endocrinology/Immunology Laboratory Supervisor to oversee technical operations in a CAP-accredited lab. Responsibilities include managing staff, ensuring quality standards, and providing technical expertise. Candidates must hold a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor license and have relevant experience. This role is crucial for maintaining operational excellence in laboratory testing.
UF Health Pathology Laboratories (UFHPL) Endocrinology/Immunology Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and performing technical activities in a CAP-accredited laboratory. This includes both clinical and research testing in Chemistry and Immunology. The supervisor will manage daily operations of the technical sections, including work assignments, problem resolution, technical development, procedure implementation, inventory management, and purchasing. They will evaluate and monitor the competencies of technical staff, ensure procedures and methods adhere to protocols, and meet quality assurance standards. The role also involves providing technical expertise in the use, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments, equipment, and reagents. Routine and specialized procedures will be performed as necessary, with operational responsibilities assumed in the absence of the Director of Operations.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Licensed or temporarily licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in one of the specialty areas relevant to the laboratory's licensing under Chapter 483, Florida Statutes, with at least four years of appropriate experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Immunohematology, Molecular Pathology, Microbiology, or Serology under Chapter 483, Florida Statutes. Prior experience in endocrine autoantibody testing and familiarity with the analyzers used for this testing. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and execute scientific experiments, solve problems in the laboratory, communicate effectively with investigators, physicians, nurses, and technologists, and analyze data. Understanding and application of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to the Biological Sciences.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation (Required): Employees in this position will not operate vehicles for assigned business purposes. If required, indicate the appropriate operator designation on the Request for Personnel (RFP) form at the time of posting.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must possess a current license as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in Clinical Chemistry, Immunology/Serology under Chapter 483, Florida Statutes, or be eligible for a temporary license. ASCP certification is strongly preferred. Temporary licensure must be converted to a permanent license within one year of employment; failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the position.
