Performs tests and procedures following established guidelines and predetermined criteria. Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance and/or results and uses knowledge, critical thinking skills, and judgment to troubleshoot and resolve them. Must meet requirements to sign off moderate and high complexity competencies. Must be proficient in all Technical Specialist, Medical Technologist/Technician job duties. Must also supervise phlebotomy, lab assistants, lab courier, and other positions as assigned.**What you will do*** Oversee the workflow of the departments and communicate standards.* Perform direct supervision of staff, to include clinical reviews.* Plan and prepare employee work schedules.* Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner.* Implement and maintain production and quality standards for the staff.* Ensure that staff applies primary knowledge while performing all aspects of assigned tasks.* Ensure documentation is completed according to department policies and procedures.* Respond to complaints in a timely manner. Investigate complaints about service and equipment and take corrective action.* Screen job applicants and hire new employees.* Participate in training and orientation of new staff; provides ongoing education.* Instruct staff in work policies and procedures, and the use and maintenance of equipment. Maintain required records of work hours, budgets, payrolls, and other information.* Establish and implement operational standards and procedures for the department supervised.* Perform financial tasks, such as estimating costs and preparing and managing budgets.* Prepare reports on activity, personnel, and information such as occupancy, hours worked, facility usage, work performed, and departmental expenses.* Research and articulate \"best practices\" in the industry.
