Job summary

The University of Miami's Frost School of Music in Coral Gables, FL is seeking a full-time Supervisor, Keyboard Instruments to maintain pianos and keyboard instruments under the direction of the Manager of Keyboard Instruments.

Responsibilities include tuning, repairs, inventory management in Excel, and supervising piano moving professionals, with collaboration across faculty and staff to ensure optimal instrument readiness for performances and teaching.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
  • 5 years of recent experience in the repair, servicing, tuning and preventative maintenance of acoustic pianos and digital keyboards preferred.
  • Registered Piano Technician current status recommended by the Piano Technicians Guild.
  • Knowledge of proper use and care of piano tuning and repair tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess the condition and function of pianos.
  • Experience in working with harpsichords and other specialty keyboard instruments.

  • Perform repairs as needed, including new strings, action parts, cabinet and bench repairs.
  • Vacuum pianos as needed and notify Manager of any problems with the piano.
  • Regulation and voicing of pianos as needed.
  • Maintain digital pianos in two keyboard labs.
  • Maintain current inventory of all acoustic and digital pianos in Excel format.
  • Move celesta, harpsichord and other keyboard instruments as needed.
  • Supervise piano moving professionals engaged by the Frost School of Music.
  • Perform tasks related to Purchase Orders for new pianos and piano moving in Workday system.
  • Perform and assist with specialized piano related tasks as assigned by the Manager, Keyboard Instruments.
  • Maintain collegial relationships and communication with administration, faculty, staff, and students.

The University of Miami's Frost School of Music has an exciting opportunity for a full time Supervisor, Keyboard Instruments to work in Coral Gables, FL. The Supervisor, Keyboard Instruments maintains the pianos and keyboard instruments of the Frost School of Music (FSOM) under the direction of the Manager of Keyboard Instruments.

Core Qualifications:
