Job summary

Southeast Behavioral Hospital, part of Universal Health Services, is seeking a Supervisor of Intake & Referral to oversee clinical intake activities and supervise a team of counselors. The role collaborates with medical staff, care managers, and external entities to ensure timely assessments and referrals.

The position requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field or a nursing degree, with 5+ years of psychiatric experience and licensure (RN, LCSW, LMSW, LPC).

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, mental health, or related field required.
• Will also consider candidates that possess a graduation from an accredited program of professional nursing.
• A minimum of five (5) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting desirable.
• Experience in Addiction & Recovery field and in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, treatment planning, external review communications, and diverse populations.
• Strong management skills with ability to communicate effectively with staff and oversee performance.
• Licensure: RN, LCSW, LMSW, LPC or applicable license.
• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques; Handle with Care certification, Verbal De-escalation certification and CPR.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction to a staff of Assessment & Intake Counselors in psychiatric assessment services, including clinical evaluations, crisis intervention, and referrals.
• Interface closely with medical staff, department heads, administration, treatment team/external case managers/managed care organizations; act as a liaison with other hospital intake departments.
• Monitor and assure timely completion of the Core Measures (HBIPS) Abstraction Tool for all admissions.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a clinician, this position provides direction to a staff of Assessment & Intake Counselors in the provision of psychiatric assessment services, including clinical evaluations, crisis intervention, and referrals. This position interfaces closely with the medical staff, fellow department heads and administration, treatment team/external case managers/managed care organizations, functions as a liaison with other hospital intake departments. Monitors and assures timely completion of the Core Measures (HBIPS) Abstraction Tool for all admissions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, mental health, or related field required. Will also consider candidates that possess a graduation from an accredited program of professional nursing.

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting desirable. Working knowledge of the Addiction & Recovery field and experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities, and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. Must have strong management skills with ability to communicate effectively with staff, ensuring proper employee performance management.

Licensure: R.N., L.C.S.W., L.M.S.W., LPC or applicable license.

Additional Requirements: Complete knowledge of crisis intervention techniques. Handle with Care certification, Verbal De-escalation certification and CPR.
