Qualifications

Current certification from a recognized professional laboratory certifying agency, such as ASCP, AAB, or AMT.
Experience supervising laboratory operations and/or laboratory personnel.
Experience with clinical chemistry/core laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

Provide overall direction, communication, and oversight to laboratory teammates regarding workflow, assignments, and departmental responsibilities.
Ensure adherence to established procedures and quality assurance requirements.

Position Overview

The Supervisor II, Laboratory (Chemistry) is responsible for supervising multiple laboratory functions, including oversight of laboratory testing within the core laboratory, monitoring workflow from specimen processing through results reporting, and providing day-to-day guidance and support to laboratory teammates.

This position serves as a licensed technical supervisor and is responsible for maintaining quality, regulatory compliance, workflow efficiency, and effective team performance. The Supervisor will monitor service guarantees and specimen quality requirements while ensuring adherence to established laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations & Workflow

Team Leadership & Development

Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports.
Assist with hiring, promotions, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and other employment activities as appropriate.
Support teammate development through coaching, mentoring, training, and professional development opportunities.
Establish and support professional development goals for team members.
Conduct competency evaluations and periodic performance reviews as required.
Review timecards and approve time off in accordance with established policies.
Maintain appropriate teammate records and performance documentation.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Quality & Compliance

Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures, quality assurance requirements, safety policies, and regulatory standards.
Participate in and/or lead the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
Maintain an active role in the laboratory's quality improvement program.
Support compliance with CAP surveys, state requirements, turnaround-time standards, service guarantees, and incident reporting.
Collaborate with other laboratory leaders to develop and implement section-specific SOPs and training programs.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and accrediting requirements.
Monitor specimen quality and laboratory outcome standards.

Education & Experience

Required:
