Job summary

Dallas Independent School District is seeking a Supervisor II to lead and coordinate preschool special education services for students with disabilities. The role focuses on developing plans, tools, and training to improve instructional quality.

You will collaborate across teams, ensure compliance with state and federal laws, manage ECSE budgets, and support teachers with mentoring, data collection, and program evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Early Childhood Education, Special Education and/or a related field.
  • Texas Teaching Certificate (Master’s Degree preferred).
  • Five years of experience in education or a directly related field.
  • Experience in program and budget development.
  • Experience in the implementation and interpretation of federal and state regulations.
  • Professional and ethical behavior as outlined in the Standards of Conduct for Teachers.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts effectively and work in harmony with others.
  • Knowledge of general education curricula as well as special education methodology and best practices for students ages 3-5.
  • Ability to coordinate and monitor departmental operations.
  • Knowledge of word processing, database, spreadsheets, presentation applications, Oracle and IEP systems

Responsibilities

  • Develop, refine and evaluate long-term and short-term plans for the delivery of aligned effective special education services for students with disabilities.
  • Develop instructional tools and products to support the implementation of preschool programs.
  • Identify supplementary materials and intervention programs based on scientific research regarding effective instructional practices for students with disabilities at the preschool level.
  • Develop and present training to campus and central staff to support the implementation of programs and products provided.
  • Collaborate with vertically and horizontally integrated teams, including but not limited to general education and related service, to improve the quality and effectiveness of special education programs and instruction.
  • Ensure ongoing curriculum and instruction support to teachers, including but not limited to staff development, mentoring and technical support that focuses on students’ success.
  • Ensure that assessment, curriculum and instruction are aligned with general education and in full compliance with state and federal law as well as District policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of ECSE program budgets.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies to develop data-collection instruments to measure special education program effectiveness and analyze data for long-term planning.
  • Participate in professional development and training programs based on the needs of special education teachers.
  • Perform all duties relating to the IDEA Pre School grant at 100%.
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.
