Job summary

Pittsburgh Mercy in Pittsburgh, PA, seeks a Supervisor in the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities department to lead staff and ensure high-quality care for individuals with IDD. You will oversee daily operations, provide supervision and training, and promote a person-centered environment aligned with our mission.

The role focuses on staff supervision, onboarding, scheduling, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or higher) with at least 1 year of direct work with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of direct work with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills.
  • Experience in staff supervision and training.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Clearances and pre-employment screenings required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to direct care staff.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules and ensure adequate coverage.

Position Purpose

As a Supervisor in the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities department, you will play a key leadership role in supporting staff and ensuring high-quality care for individuals with intellectual disabilities. You will oversee daily operations, provide supervision and training, and foster a collaborative, person-centered environment that aligns with Pittsburgh Mercy’s mission and values.

What You Will Do
  • Staff Supervision & Development: Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to direct care staff. Coordinate staffing schedules and ensure adequate coverage.
  • Training & Compliance: Oversee onboarding and ongoing training to ensure staff meet regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage day‑day operations of the program, ensuring quality service delivery and adherence to policies.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with individuals served families, staff, and external partners.
  • Problem Solving & Conflict Resolution: Address concerns and resolve conflicts in a timely, professional manner.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in quality assurance initiatives and contribute to program development and innovation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or above from an accredited college or university and at least 1 year of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least 3 years of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities
