Description

Responsible for the management, coordination, and supervision of construction activities associated with repair and replacement of window units and glass encasements throughout the district. Directs all activities including scheduling, inspection, and asbestos abatement, as required. Maintains all documents and records regarding abatement activities as required by state regulatory agencies and ensures adherence to departmental goals and policies.

Responsibilities

1. Supervises and coordinates overall operational procedures/activities of glazing personnel.
2. Demonstrates accountability in maintaining accurate records regarding operational functions including status, labor, and material costs for each work site.
3. Coordinates work with other Maintenance Services personnel, district employees, and outside contractors.
4. Recommends and initiates personnel actions including promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
5. Inspects work performed by outside contractors and Maintenance personnel.
6. Interprets policies and communicates to staff and ensures all safety regulations are followed.
7. Communicates effectively with Administrators, Principals, Department Heads, District staff, and contractors in a professional manner in all phases necessary to locate, correct, repair and complete each project request.
8. Adheres to local, state, and federal procedures for inspection, documentation and abatement procedures.
9. Maintains inventory of tools, equipment and vehicles assigned to the glazing department and communicates directly with the department director regarding known issues or concerns related to equipment failures, project requests, or personnel issues providing specific documentation as needed.
10. Requisitions materials and equipment required for project assignments using proper Dallas ISD Purchasing procedures and guidelines.
11. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
12. All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises Craftsperson II Glaziers.

Qualifications

1. Demonstrated leadership and two (2) years supervisory experience.
2. Knowledge of glass types, applications, and broad knowledge of basic glazier tools and adhesives/putty related to the glazier craft.
3. Knowledge of applicable glass window jacks, glass holding racks, and operation of associated hand and power cutting tools.
4. Ability to calculate supply needs in maintaining sufficient stock, maintain accurate records, work orders, and project labor and materials cost.
5. Ability to establish and prioritize schedules, including emergencies, recommend improvements regarding production methods.
6. Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and EPA rules and regulations.
7. Completion of accredited (40) hour Environmental Protection Agency Asbestos Abatement Supervisor Course and passing of State of Texas examination within six (6) months of employment.
8. Completion of accredited Environmental Protection Agency Asbestos Inspector Course and passing of State of Texas examination.
9. Basic skills in writing and computer literacy, including literacy in Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
