The Patient Account Supervisor/Patient Financial Services is responsible for the Patient Accounts area, including the third-party insurance billing, follow-up, collections and financial arrangements for accounts within their assigned areas. A Brief Overview
The Patient Account Supervisor/Patient Financial Services is responsible for the Patient Accounts area, including the third-party insurance billing, follow-up, collections and financial arrangements for accounts within their assigned areas. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

What you will do
  • Assures day-to-day operations run smoothly and efficiently within established guidelines.
  • Formulates short range plans for MHM/Patient Financial Services Department.
  • Sets goals and objective and strategies for meeting these goals.
  • Hires, evaluates performance, counsels, issues corrective action, and recommends promotion and discharge of department Associates as indicated.
  • Supervises the process of timely and appropriate billing of third-party payors within the payor group.
  • Effectively communicates concise and timely information to staff and members of other departments.
  • Coordinates and implements changes in regulatory requirements and insurance billing practices.

Education/Formal Training Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Work Experience Requirements
  • 3-5 years Accounting/Finance principles and techniques

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrable leadership potential.
  • Ability to understand and prepare moderately complex written materials, such as policy and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with all levels of Associates and management.
  • Ability to motivate individuals and groups of people toward the accomplishment of work and organizational goals.
  • Ability to plan and schedule tasks and projects and maintain control of own and other's workflow.
  • Ability to work without close supervision or guidance and to exercise independent judgement.

Supervision Provided by this Position
  • The incumbent supervises up to 15 clerical Associates in the area.

Physical Demands
  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
