Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Inspires others by demonstrating a high level of commitment and energy in all endeavors.

  4. Continuously improves service by evaluating service problems using feedback or data and involving the team in service improvements.
  5. Communicates service problems and team plans in buzz sessions and facilitates problem-solving meetings with the team.
  6. Immediately addresses service issues and follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  7. Keeps the team well informed of property promotions and events.
  8. Develops highly skilled, successful employees, sets realistic and measurable service standards, and holds employees accountable for meeting them.
  9. Clearly communicates and enforces company expectations including Code of Commitment, policies, procedures, department goals, and business strategy.
  10. Addresses employee performance issues, coaches for improvement, and provides ongoing feedback.
  11. Uses EOS data to improve the workplace, listens and responds to employees, recognizes and rewards individual and team performance.
  12. Consistently follows company policies, procedures, and industry regulations, maintains accurate and up-to-date employee records, and completes performance reviews timely.
  13. Submits input from co-workers and department users on labor-saving, safety, and dollar savings innovations.
  14. Assists in development of employee appraisals and identification of training and upward mobility candidates.
  15. Responsible for the maintenance and mechanical integrity of the facility during a shift or in the absence of the Manager of Facilities.
  16. Responsible for the supervision of all trade personnel on shift.
  17. Interfaces with all department managers during shift, maintaining optimum level of service to external/internal customers.
  18. Conducts daily tours of the facility to identify, correct, and follow up on all deficiencies.
  19. Responsible for assigned projects and timely completion.
  20. Assists in budget planning and the setting of policies and procedures of engineering and maintenance.
  21. Oversees implementation of all service contracts pertaining to engineering and maintenance.
  22. Maintains daily shift log indicating, but not limited to, employee incidents, irregularities that may arise, i.e., mechanical shutdowns, emergencies, and alarms.
  23. Assists in operation of the fire command station when necessary.
  24. Assigns to subordinates on shift and completes regular checklists.
  25. Assists in the supervision of EVS employees when necessary.
  26. Serves as a dynamic and energetic leader, while fostering teamwork, employee morale, motivation, and open communication.
  27. Establishes self as a highly credible leader with the highest levels of integrity, and always acts in the best interests of the property and the company.
  28. Acts as a role model and coach while developing employees using a consistent, approachable demeanor and clearly articulating expectations.
  29. Ensures that team members clearly understand and are held accountable for their performance expectations.
  30. Provides appropriate recognition and rewards to individuals and groups when consistent superior performance is attained.
  31. Works as a change agent and challenges departmental processes to improve and streamline department operations, through the continuous assessment of policies and procedures, work processes, and program effectiveness and value.
  32. Demonstrates excellent facilitator skills in resolving conflicts between different points of view.
  33. Demonstrates leadership skills in determining a vision, aligns, and inspires the team to achieve the vision.
  34. Partners and coordinates with other departments to ensure total guest satisfaction and efficient operations in a safe, friendly, comfortable environment, by well-trained, motivated employees.
  35. Embraces, role models, and implements all elements of our customer service program including FOCUS skills, Spotlight on Success, and Buzz Sessions, and tier prioritized service.
  36. Recommends and implements change to improve overall employee and guest satisfaction.
  37. Establishes and endorses the business objectives, ethics, and values of Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. in accordance with the Code of Commitment.
  38. Abides by all Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Regulations and PA Harness Racing Commission Regulations.

A completed checklist of the physical and mental demands incumbent to this position, as well as working conditions under which these duties are performed, is available upon request. Those demands and conditions occurring on a consistent basis are deemed essential to the performance of these essential duties.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  1. Minimum high school graduate.
  2. Working knowledge of overall building operations relating to engineering/maintenance and EVS.
  3. Familiarity in all facets of construction.
  4. Must have good working knowledge of more than one technical field.
  5. Minimum one year experience as a supervisor.
  6. Journeyman or equivalent in at least one trade for a minimum of five years.
  7. Knowledge of Mechanical/Building systems in facility.
  8. Proficient computer skills.
  9. Driver's license (driving record required) required.
  10. Drug screening required.
  11. Is able to work in a smoke-filled environment, and is able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.
  12. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate license through the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
