Job summary

Providence Swedish is seeking a Facilities Supervisor to lead the engineering team across Issaquah and Redmond facilities. You will plan work, supervise staff and vendors, and ensure adherence to life-safety and environmental systems with a strong emphasis on reliability and safety.

The role requires extensive experience in building envelopes, utilities, and hospital operations, plus hands-on budget management and preventive maintenance program oversight.

Qualifications

  • Broad formal training in building maintenance and plant operations.
  • Licenses: National Boiler Operator Grades I–III at hire.
  • 10+ years in building maintenance and plant operations.
  • Experience with hospital utility and life safety systems.
  • Experience developing and monitoring preventive maintenance programs.
  • Experience with computer-based maintenance software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Facilities Engineering with staffing and budgets.
  • Supervise work order execution and vendor coordination.
  • Ensure safe, reliable operation of utility systems.
  • Develop and monitor prevention maintenance strategies.
  • Oversee budget development and capital planning.

Description

Position to cover both Swedish Issaquah and Swedish Redmond facilities

The position is responsible for providing leadership, vision, and a working environment that promotes teamwork and customer satisfaction and for ensuring that the standards of service are met for the Facilities Engineering team in a manner consistent with SMC's mission and values. The Supervisor plans work, schedules staff and vendors, supervises work order execution, coordinates system disruptions, tracks work status, monitors and verifies the function of building environmental and life safety systems. The Supervisor provides advice and recommendations on the design, construction, and operation of physical plant systems and is responsible for the effective operation of those systems based upon a high degree of technical knowledge and experience. Responsibilities include assisting in managing the Facilities Engineering budget, implementing the Utility Management Plan, assisting in the development of the annual labor, operating and capital budgets and managing the Facilities Engineering staff to ensure the consistent, safe, and reliable operation of all utility systems, equipment and properties. Individual responsibilities in the areas such as plant operations, building finishes and envelope, and work order management may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Coursework/Training: Must have completed a broad range of formal, specialized training courses pertaining to building maintenance and plant operations.
  • Upon hire: National Boiler Operator Grade I License - State County City Trade License Authority or
  • Upon hire: National Boiler Operator Grade II License - State County City Trade License Authority or
  • Upon hire: National Boiler Operator Grade III License - State County City Trade License Authority.
  • 10 or more years building maintenance and plant operations experience.
  • Extensive experience in the maintenance of building envelopes, finishes and equipment.
  • Experience with most utility and life safety systems including fan systems, chillers and chilled water distribution, cooling towers, emergency generators, electrical distribution, steam generation and distribution, heating water, plumbing, medical gases, and fire detection and suppression systems.
  • Experience in the development, implementation and monitoring of computer based preventive maintenance programs.
  • Experience with all hospital utility systems.
  • Experience in a computer-based maintenance software system.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent education/experience.
