Job summary

VEKA - North America is seeking a qualified professional to oversee the extrusion operation on our production floor in Reno, NV. You will troubleshoot, supervise staff, and ensure standards for quality, safety, and efficiency are met in daily extrusion activities.

The role requires strong mechanical and mathematical abilities, leadership, and the capacity to coordinate with QA and other departments to maintain material flow and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

  • Strong attention to safety, quality, and process discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee safe operation of the entire production floor with supervision.
  • Maintain staffing levels to meet the production schedule.
  • Provide supervision, technical support and direction to the machine group.
  • Perform periodic line checks to ensure standards.
  • Enforce company procedures and regulations.
  • Collaborate with QA to resolve quality issues.
  • Coordinate with departments to ensure material availability.
  • Report equipment breakdowns to Shift Maintenance.
  • Direct housekeeping to maintain a clean, hazard-free area.
  • Enforce packaging standards and scrap segregation.
  • Handle after-hours calls and routine admin duties.
  • Troubleshoot tooling and machine problems and provide feedback.
  • Coordinate fine tuning for profile stability.
  • Fill in for Supervisors during vacations or absences.

JOB SUMMARY: Oversee the operation and troubleshoot the extrusion process of the production equipment and personnel to established standards. These standards enable us to provide a quality product/service to ensure our customer’s satisfaction.

JOB SUMMARY: Oversee the operation and troubleshoot the extrusion process of the production equipment and personnel to established standards. These standards enable us to provide a quality product/service to ensure our customer’s satisfaction.

Primary Duties
  • Collectively with the Superintendent oversee the safe operation of the entire production floor.
  • Maintain proper staffing levels to enable the execution of the production schedule.
  • Provide supervision, technical support and direction to all employees assigned to the machine group.
  • Periodically perform line checks.
  • Follows company procedures and enforce company regulations.
  • Work with Quality Assurance Department to resolve quality issues.
  • Coordinate with the Compounding Department and Plant Management to ensure material is available for extrusion.
  • Report breakdowns and equipment problems to the Shift Maintenance.
  • Direct housekeeping efforts to maintain work area clean and hazard free
  • Enforce material packaging standards and scrap segregation requirements.
  • Receive and direct in-coming phone calls during non-business hours.
  • Perform routine administrative duties
  • Troubleshoot tooling and machine problems and provide feedback to Production Superintendent
  • Coordinate with Fine Tuning any fine-tuning adjustments needed to correct profile deficiencies or instability.
  • Fill in for Supervisors or Extrusion Technicians on vacation or absences with other Supervisors.
  • All other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: In-depth knowledge of the extrusion process, familiarity with machining processes, Mechanical Aptitude, Mathematical ability, Judgement, Planning, Organizing, Controlling, Oral and Written Communication, Courage to Act, Ability to Delegate, Working Under Pressure, Motivating Employees, Drive & Initiative, Flexibility, Tact & Diplomacy, Accuracy, and Timeliness, Basic Computer Skills a plus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GED, High School Education, previous Manufacturing experience, or five (5) years experience Extrusion Operator/Technician.
