Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Supervisor of Equipment Maintenance (Starship) for the night shift to lead a diverse team of technicians in a high‑stakes aerospace manufacturing environment. You will own maintenance planning, oversee preventive actions, troubleshoot PLCs and hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and drive continuous improvement with 5S and LEAN practices while coordinating with vendors and internal customers.

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate required.
• 2+ years leading a team, including projects and people.
• 5+ years of technical experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical repair.
• Associate degree in a technical discipline is preferred; 5+ years in aerospace maintenance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of technicians through repairs, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement projects to maximize asset availability.
• Manage weekly workload and technician task assignments.
• Triage maintenance requests and resource priorities.
• Collaborate with third-party vendors for parts, documentation, training, and on-site actions.
• Provide subject matter expertise in equipment maintenance, mechatronics, KPI analysis, and LEAN practices.

SUPERVISOR, EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE (STARSHIP) - NIGHT SHIFT

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with maintenance manager to perform full spectrum analysis on asset reliability improvement opportunities, such as suggesting improved preventative maintenance actions, identification of design flaws, with a top down approach to maintenance demand driver reduction
• Lead a team of technicians through daily repairs, preventative maintenance actions, complex continuous improvement projects, to ensure maximum asset availability for Starbase manufacturing
• Manage weekly workload distribution and technician task assignments
• Triage of incoming maintenance requests from internal customers, and effectively resource manage priority workload with all available resources
• Work with third-party vendors for parts acquisition, asset documentation standards, training, and on-site maintenance actions
• Act as a subject matter expert in equipment maintenance troubleshooting, mechatronics, project management, team key performance indicator analysis, manufacturing key performance indicator analysis, 5S and LEAN manufacturing strategies, and high-level people leadership in a fast-paced highly iterative environment.
• Lead a diverse technician team to troubleshoot and repair control and electrical system failures involving – PLCs, HMIs, servomotors, servo amplifiers, input/output, field sensors
• Lead a diverse technician team to troubleshoot and repair various machine hydraulic and pneumatic systems – actuators, valves, pumps, filters
• Lead a diverse technician team to troubleshoot and repair automated tool mechanical systems – ballscrews, linear rails, guideways, gearboxes, 3 phase motors
• Provide developmental leadership to a team of technicians, facilitating training and advancement of skills, to maintain cutting edge aerospace technologies
• Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 2+ years of experience leading a team, including leading projects and people
• 5+ years of technical experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical repair

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associate degree in a technical discipline 5+ years of experience as a maintenance technician or field service engineer
• Experience installing, aligning and commissioning automated production cells in aerospace environment
• Experience accessing and modifying Siemens control logic or similar PLC architectures
• Experience in the application & operation of precision machine tools in aerospace manufacturing environment
• Experience with CAD and/or mechanical design
• Experience in breakdown data analysis and six sigma (SQL experience is a distinct advantage)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and drawings
• Ability to write detailed repair reports (advanced MS Office skills)
• Ability to use power tools hand tools and heavy ground support equipment
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment while adhering to company policies, quality policies, and industry standards
• Detail oriented, organized, and able to demonstrate a high sense of urgency
• Analytic thinker that gets to the root of problems and comes up with permanent solutions
• Self-motivated, autonomous, and able to work well with others

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be available for all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed
  • Shift hours (6:30PM - 6:30AM)
• Capable of being forklift and boom lift certified
• Capable of lifting 50 pounds unassisted and working at heights
• Willing to travel up to 10%
