Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Lexington is seeking a Supervisor, Environmental Services to oversee the daily operations of the EVS team, ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary environment. You will mentor staff, assign tasks, conduct inspections, and enforce cleaning protocols and infection control policies.

You will lead resource planning, train staff, perform rounds, and generate reports to measure performance and drive improvements across the department.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED plus 3 years in Environmental Services.
  • Experience with EVS equipment/machinery.
  • Preferred: 1 year supervisory experience supervising staff.
  • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • One-on-one training and development of EVS staff.
  • Supervises resources for the Environmental Services department and makes hiring/promotion recommendations.
  • Supervises a waste program and ensures disposal per regulations.
  • Performs quality improvement initiatives under EVS manager/director; conducts rounding and reports results.
  • Conducts ES Survey required reports: Standard work audits, Direct Observations, Fluorescent Marker, Clean Trace ATP.
  • Supervises bed tracking system and ensures EVS response times; prepares reports and develops improvements.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Supervisor, Environmental Services, you will oversee the daily operations of the environmental services team, ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.

Every day you will manage and mentor EVS staff, assign tasks, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance with cleaning protocols, safety standards, and infection control policies.

To be successful, you will demonstrate strong leadership, effective communication, and thorough knowledge of environmental services best practices, crucial for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and supporting a healthy facility.

  • One-on-one training and development of EVS staff.
  • Supervises the necessary resources needed for the Environmental Services department under their control and makes recommendations to hiring, promoting and annual staff performance reviews.
  • Supervises a waste program that separates, packages and disposes of all waste according to all regulations
  • Performs quality improvement initiatives under direction of EVS manager/director. Conducts rounding activities to ensure environmental hygiene in all areas assigned. Prepares necessary reporting to manager(s) and document results.
  • Conducts ES Survey required reports. E.G. Standard work audits, Direct Observations, Fluorescent Marker, Clean Trace ATP.
  • Supervises the bed tracking system and ensure EVS response times are achieved. Prepare reports to document results, collaborating with the EVS manager to develop improvement activities.
Job Requirements
Required
  • High School Graduate General Studies and 3 Years in Environmental Services. , upon hire or
  • High School GED General Studies and 3 Years in Environmental Services. , upon hire and
  • Experience with typical EVS equipment/machinery
Preferred
  • 1 Year in supervisory level experience in supervising staff and
  • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Tech, upon hire
