Job summary

Texas Health Fort Worth is seeking a Nursing Supervisor (RN) for the Emergency Department. This full-time night position offers leadership opportunities in a 100-bed Marion ED within a Level I Trauma center, including guidance on staff, patient flow, and quality initiatives.

Requirements include an Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred), Texas RN licensure, and ED experience. Time-bound certifications (BCLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC) are required or completed within specified windows.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required; BSN preferred.
• Current RN licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing on hire.
• BCLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC/ATCN and CPI certifications within required timeframes.
• Minimum 2 years as a clinical nurse with leadership experience (charge nurse, committee chair, etc.).
• Current ED experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside leadership and clinical expertise to improve patient care.
• Assist manager/director with HR tasks: evaluations, coaching, recruitment, orientation.
• Help control costs and manage department budget and productivity.
• Promote patient- and family-centered care through hourly rounds and bedside reports.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team to ensure safe, individualized care.
• Assume leadership responsibilities unit-wide and across the entity.
• Model autonomous maintenance and ongoing competence improvement.

Work hours: Full-time, 36 hours weekly, Nights

Department Highlights

• 100-bed Marion Emergency Care, 75,000 square foot Level I Trauma center
• For minor care needs, the ED offers a Quick Care area designed to expedite care and patient experience. Those requiring more extensive workups will be taken to one of the diagnostic rooms.
• Patients with critical injuries or illnesses are treated in one of 22 Emergent Care rooms, including three resuscitation rooms for the most severe trauma cases.

Here’s what you need

• Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• CLIAFE – Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
• BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
• ACLS – within 90 days required
• PALS – within 90 days required
• TNCC or ATCN – within 12 months of hire required
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
• 2-years’ experience as a clinical nurse with previous experience as a charge nurse or similar leadership role (i.e. Charge nurse, committee chair, preceptor) required
• Current ED experience

What You Will Do

• Provides bedside leadership and clinical expertise to improve quality of patient care
• Responsible for assisting the manager/director with human resource management to include Evaluations, coaching, mentoring, recruitment, retention, education and orientation.
• Works with manager/director to control costs and manage department budget and productivity.
• Fosters an environment to promote patient and family centered care through purposeful hourly rounding, bedside shift report, updated care boards, and leader rounds.
• Collaborates with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to promote safe individualized care as well as promoting accountability in enhancing the patient experience.
• Assimilates leadership responsibilities on the unit and throughout the entity and/or system.
• Commits to autonomous maintenance and continuous improvement of competence and serves as a role model to other healthcare team members
