Tampa Electric is seeking a Supervisor Distribution Design to lead the DDTs, DDEs, and contract partners in designing and engineering distribution projects. The role ensures codes, safety, and company standards are met while aligning with TEC energy delivery objectives.

This position supervises the activities of SPP’s Distribution Design Technicians (DDTs), Distribution Design Engineers (DDEs) and Distribution Designers working internally and for our Contract Partners (CPs) performing the design and engineering of lateral underground (LUG), feeder hardening (FH), Distribution Wood Pole Replacements (DWPR), and Distribution Wood Pole Inspection Program (DWPI). The Supervisor Distribution Design is responsible for development and oversight of the engineering/construction designs to ensure applicable codes, regulatory requirements and company standards are met.
Throughout all aspects of the positions’ duties, ensure that all work is performed safely and according to Safe Work Practices.
Direct: Supervises the SPP Distribution Design (DD) department, consisting of a technical staff of DD Technicians, Leads, and Engineers; and Designers at the assigned CP(s).
Indirect: This position may have indirect supervision of the SPP Ops Engineer(s) and Project Manager(s).
Key Internal: Distribution/Transmission/Substation Engineering & Operations departments; Planning and Scheduling, Meter Operations, System Service, Mapping Services, Line Clearance, Field Construction, Lighting, Construction Services, Skills Training, Real Estate, Telecommunications, New Construction, Community Relations, Environmental, Customer Service, Project Management, Claims, Human Resources, Regulatory and Corporate Communications.
Key External: Residential and commercial customers; may include County and/or City officials and their staff, Florida DOT, CSX, EPA, the FPSC and various homeowners’ associations.
Required: Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Associate degree in relevant field
Required: Valid Florida State Driver’s License with clean driving record
Required: Minimum of ten years’ distribution design work experience in progressively more complex technical assignments. Must have completed Levels I through V of the Distribution Design Technician training curriculum or equivalent training with another utility.
A relevant college degree may be considered in lieu of equivalent experience.
Preferred: Completion of TEC’s Supervisor Essentials Program or similar supervisory training and experience as a Lead DDT.
