Job summary

Ameren Services invites applications for a technical leadership role focused on overseeing design quality for gas and electric projects and ensuring compliance with standards and permitting processes. The role requires strong GIS, CAD, and data‑driven decision making to support outage and mapping systems.

Qualified candidates will have a technical degree and multiple years of relevant experience in engineering, design or construction, with familiarity in Ameren Illinois standards and DOJM

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a technical discipline is required, GIS, CAD or Eng. Tech preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, GIS, Construction Management, PM or related field preferred.
• Five+ years of relevant experience in engineering, design, or construction on electric/gas lines, GIS, CAD, or distributed generation interconnections.

Responsibilities

• Provide department leadership to employees within the department and develop department goals and measures.
• Review design quality for gas and electric projects and ensure standards and permits are observed.
• Ensure billing policies are followed and DOJM system is correctly used.
• Review quality of electronic mapping and support GIS mapping activities.
• Support storm assessment efforts and coordinate field checkers.
• Provide GIS system training and support GIS applications.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide department leadership to employees within the department focusing on company goals and measures; developing department goals and measures; and maintaining monthly performance scorecard.




• Review for quality and accuracy of designs (gas & electric) and work with design personnel and field employees to resolve issues identified. Verify all needed material is selected; ensure appropriate standards are followed; manage backlog of work; initiate work orders; ensure IDOT, railroad, county, and foreign utility permits are observed.




• Ensure standards and qualifications are adhered to consistently; ensure billing policies are followed and correct billing is entered into DOJM; understand and apply the Illinois System Extension or Modification Policy consistently for all customers; and initiate System Extension Guarantee Agreement contracts to customers.




• Review and approve the quality of electronic mapping, data quality monitoring for connectivity in support of outage systems. Provide technical support to mapping personnel responsible for mapping activities in GIS system.




• Provide support for storm assessment efforts, organize field checker assignments, dispatch field checkers, update outage orders in OAS, and communicate with storm center.




• Provide computer system support for GIS system users, coordinate GIS training, and support GIS application development and testing.

Qualifications

Associates degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required, with GIS, CAD or Engineering Technology disciplines being preferred.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, GIS, Construction Management, Project Management or related technical field preferred.

Five or more years of relevant experience (e.g., engineering, design or construction experience on electric or gas distribution lines, GIS, Computer-Aided Drafting, or distributed generation interconnections like solar and wind) required.

Seven years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of associate degree.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Ability to analyze data;


• Proficiency with MS Office applications suite;


• Proficiency with OAS and DOJM systems;


• Knowledge of Ameren Gas and Electric standards;


• Understanding of Ameren Illinois Utilities' Standards and Qualifications; and

Compensation Range:

$88,500.00 - $137,200.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
