Job summary

Ameren Services seeks a skilled engineer/GIS professional to lead a design and data quality team, ensuring accurate gas and electric designs and proper permitting. The role involves managing billing policy adherence and DOJM processes, plus system extension contracts and GIS mapping quality oversight.

The ideal candidate will support GIS users, provide field coordination during outages, and participate in storm assessments with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a technical discipline is required, GIS, CAD or Engineering Technology preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, GIS, Construction Management, Project Management or related technical field preferred.
• Five or more years of relevant experience (engineering, design or construction on electric or gas distribution lines, GIS, CAD, or distributed generation interconnections) required.
• Seven years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of associate degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide department leadership to employees within the department focusing on goals and performance measures.
• Review for quality and accuracy of designs (gas & electric) and coordinate with field staff; ensure required permits are observed.
• Ensure billing policies are followed and DOJM entries are correct; apply System Extension policies.
• Review and approve quality of electronic mapping and GIS data quality monitoring; support GIS mapping staff.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide department leadership to employees within the department focusing on company goals and measures; developing department goals and measures; and maintaining monthly performance scorecard.




• Review for quality and accuracy of designs (gas & electric) and work with design personnel and field employees to resolve issues identified. Verify all needed material is selected; ensure appropriate standards are followed; manage backlog of work; initiate work orders; ensure IDOT, railroad, county, and foreign utility permits are observed.




• Ensure standards and qualifications are adhered to consistently; ensure billing policies are followed and correct billing is entered into DOJM; understand and apply the Illinois System Extension or Modification Policy consistently for all customers; and initiate System Extension Guarantee Agreement contracts to customers.




• Review and approve the quality of electronic mapping, data quality monitoring for connectivity in support of outage systems. Provide technical support to mapping personnel responsible for mapping activities in GIS system.




• Provide support for storm assessment efforts, organize field checker assignments, dispatch field checkers, update outage orders in OAS, and communicate with storm center.




• Provide computer system support for GIS system users, coordinate GIS training, and support GIS application development and testing.

Qualifications

Associates degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required, with GIS, CAD or Engineering Technology disciplines being preferred.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, GIS, Construction Management, Project Management or related technical field preferred.

Five or more years of relevant experience (e.g., engineering, design or construction experience on electric or gas distribution lines, GIS, Computer-Aided Drafting, or distributed generation interconnections like solar and wind) required.

Seven years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of associate degree.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Ability to analyze data;


• Proficiency with MS Office applications suite;


• Proficiency with OAS and DOJM systems;


• Knowledge of Ameren Gas and Electric standards;


• Understanding of Ameren Illinois Utilities' Standards and Qualifications; and

Compensation Range:

$88,500.00 - $137,200.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
