Job summary

Rheem is seeking a Supervisor, Distribution Center (Temporary) in Grand Prairie, TX to oversee hourly employees and shift leaders in the US Air Division. You will ensure safety, adherence to SOPs, and efficient DC operations, while coordinating with other departments.

A strong candidate has distribution center supervision experience, solid MS Office skills, and a proven ability to train staff and improve processes. This temporary role supports critical logistics functions.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in a distribution environment.
  • Experience in supervising hourly employees.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills, teamwork, proven leadership abilities, and excellent problem solving skills.
  • Must possess superior planning, decision-making, use of staff service, and motivation skills.
  • Must possess good judgment, planning and analytical skills, with the ability to engage team members to support significant shop floor change.
  • Ability to organize and deliver effective training tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to interact and work in a distribution center floor environment.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, to include Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the activities of hourly employees in the distribution center operation.
  • Plan work within the assigned department and improve methods to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure quantity and quality of work and assist employees as needed.
  • Coordinate work with other departments for efficient operation.
  • Induct, instruct, and train employees and maintain a trained workforce.
  • Inspire and maintain high employee morale through good relations and handbook knowledge.
  • Meet all schedules established for the assigned department.
  • Interpret instructions, specifications, handbook and company policies to hourly employees.
  • Control costs and maintain tools, machines, and other equipment; manage materials.
  • Maintain discipline and enforce policies and handbook.
  • Serve as liaison for HR to assist employees and participate in interviewing/selecting new staff.
  • Conduct safety meetings for training on safe habits and housekeeping.
  • Recognize and inform higher supervision of employees' capabilities.
  • Counsel employees to settle complaints informally when possible.
  • Develop SOPs as required for Distribution Center.
  • Assist with negotiations of vendors for MRO supplies.
  • Support quality assurance performance development in the distribution center.

Job description

This Supervisor, Distribution Center - Temporary position is responsiblefor the direct supervision of hourly employees and working leaders of the distribution center.

This position serves our US Air Division, supporting the Grand Prairie, TXlocation.

  • Supervise the activities of hourly employees in the distribution center operation.
  • Responsible for planning the work within the assigned department and effecting improved methods and procedures for greater efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Responsible for the quantity and quality of work of the assigned department, working with the employees where necessary to complete the work.
  • Coordinating work with other departments for the purpose of efficient operation.
  • Assume responsibility for proper induction, instruction, and training of employees and maintaining an adequate and well‑trained work force.
  • Inspire and maintain high employee morale through good employee-management relations and through knowledge of the employee handbook.
  • Responsible for meeting all schedules established for the assigned department.
  • Interpret instructions, specifications, handbook and company policies to hourly employees.
  • Responsible for the control of costs and proper maintenance of tools, machines, and other working equipment, and materials within the assigned department.
  • Maintain discipline through prompt and impartial action and enforcement of company policies and the employee handbook.
  • Serve as a liason for HR to both assist employees where appropriate and through interviewing / selection of new employees.
  • Conduct safety meetings for the purpose of training hourly employees in proper safety habits, adherence to rules of good housekeeping, and maintaining safe working conditions.
  • Recognize and inform higher supervision of hourly employee's capabilities.
  • Counsel employees for the purpose of settling individual complaints or problems before they are put in as formal complaints.
  • Develop SOPs as required for Distribution Center
  • Assist with negotiation(s) of vendors for MRO supplies.

HOW TO STAND OUT
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations or related field
  • Certified lift truck experience preferred.
  • ERP system knowledge such as Oracle or SAP.
