Job summary

Vision Media on Mercer Island, WA seeks a Supervisor, Digital Activation to lead the day-to-day Digital Activation team responsible for self-service media buys across paid social, paid search, and programmatic channels.

You will partner with the Director of Media Buying to improve AI adoption, automation, and technology use while ensuring campaigns are accurate, on time, and on budget. This is a hands-on leadership role with growth potential in a collaborative, fast-growing agency.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of digital media experience with hands-on activation across paid social, paid search, and programmatic.
  • 4+ years of directly managing and developing employees, including coaching and performance reviews.
  • Ability to build repeatable processes and lead teams through growth and change.
  • Strong understanding of campaign setup, QA, tracking, pacing, measurement, and reporting.
  • Comfort with data, AI, automation, and emerging tech in media activation.

Position Summary

The Supervisor, Digital Activation leads the day-to-day work, development, and performance of Vision Media’s Digital Activation team, which executes the agency’s self-service media buys across paid social, paid search, and programmatic channels.

Reporting to the Director of Media Buying, this role is responsible for ensuring the team delivers accurate, strategic, on-time, and on-budget work while building the processes, training, and team structure needed to support continued agency growth.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands digital media activation, knows how to lead and develop a team, and can balance people leadership with strong operational oversight. The Supervisor will also work closely with the Director of Media Buying to strengthen the agency’s use of AI, automation, and emerging technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Digital Activation team day to day, setting priorities, delegating work, balancing workloads, and keeping execution on track.
  • Hold regular team meetings and weekly one-on-ones to provide coaching, feedback, support, and accountability.
  • Develop team members through clear goals, ongoing coaching, training, and career development.
  • Conduct performance reviews and partner with the Director of Media Buying and HR on performance management and employee development.
  • Identify staffing needs and participate in recruiting, interviewing, selecting, onboarding, and training new team members.
  • Create a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment.
  • Build cross-training and backup plans to ensure appropriate coverage across paid social, paid search, and programmatic channels.

Digital Activation, Quality & Operations

  • Oversee the quality and execution of digital campaigns across paid social, paid search, and programmatic.
  • Establish, document, and maintain consistent QA processes and campaign standards.
  • Ensure campaigns are launched accurately, on time, and within approved client budgets.
  • Oversee campaign pacing across the book of business to ensure budgets are delivered appropriately and issues are identified early.
  • Ensure the team consistently applies activation strategy and best practices across accounts.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and problem-solving when campaign, platform, pacing, tracking, or execution issues arise.
  • Partner with Account Strategy and Media Planning teams to resolve tactical channel questions and determine the appropriate activation approach.
  • Oversee digital buying operations and billing accuracy, including product codes, purchase orders, invoice reconciliation, and monthly and quarterly actualization.
  • Establish clear reporting standards and ensure digital reporting provides useful insights and recommendations.
  • Monitor team capacity and utilization and partner with the Director of Media Buying on staffing and resource needs.

Team Growth & Process Improvement

  • Help build and scale the Digital Activation team to support current and future client demand.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, eliminate unnecessary manual work, and increase efficiency.
  • Build repeatable processes that allow the team to grow without sacrificing quality or accountability.
  • Develop training programs and skill-development plans across paid social, paid search, and programmatic.
  • Identify skill gaps and work with the Director of Media Buying to determine training, staffing, or resource solutions.
  • Support the development of clear roles, responsibilities, and career paths within the Digital Activation team.
  • Partner with the Director of Media Buying to advance Vision Media’s use of AI, automation, and technology within digital activation.
  • Identify, test, and recommend tools that improve efficiency, accuracy, campaign performance, and team capacity.
  • Help the team adopt new tools and workflows and ensure they are being used consistently.
  • Stay current on changes in digital media platforms, measurement, privacy, AI, and emerging technology.
  • Ensure relevant platform updates, trends, and digital media insights are regularly shared with the broader Vision Media team.
  • Partner with the Director of Media Buying to establish annual Digital Activation goals through Vision Media’s OGSM process and translate those goals into clear team priorities.
  • Collaborate with Media Planning, Account Strategy, Finance, and other teams to ensure digital activation supports overall client strategy and business goals.
  • Participate in client conversations when digital expertise, escalation support, or additional leadership is needed.
  • Support new business opportunities by helping scope digital activation needs, estimate resources, and contribute to pitches and RFPs.
  • Partner with Account Strategy and Media Planning to establish realistic campaign launch, optimization, and reporting timelines based on scope and team capacity.
  • Escalate significant client, performance, budget, staffing, or operational concerns to the Director of Media Buying.
  • Represent Digital Activation in cross-functional meetings and leadership discussions as appropriate.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of digital media experience, including hands-on experience with paid social, paid search, and programmatic activation.
  • 4+ years of experience directly managing and developing employees, including hiring, coaching, performance reviews, and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to build repeatable processes and lead teams through periods of growth and change.
  • Strong understanding of campaign setup, QA, tracking, pacing, optimization, measurement, and reporting.
  • Ability to coach and provide technical guidance across multiple digital channels.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Comfort working with data, AI, automation, and emerging technology.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to work effectively with clients, peers, direct reports, and senior leadership.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to provide clear direction while developing and empowering others.

Preferred Experience

  • Hands-on experience with platforms such as Meta, TikTok, Google Ads, SA360, DV360, The Trade Desk, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting a professional-services, advertising, media, or other client-focused organization.
  • Experience helping scale a digital activation or media-buying team during a period of growth.
  • Experience identifying or implementing AI, automation, or workflow tools within a digital media environment.

Compensation

Salary range: $130,000–$140,000 per year, paid in accordance with Vision Media’s regular payroll schedule. Actual compensation will be based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is classified as exempt.

As a regular full-time employee, the Supervisor, Digital Activation is eligible to participate in Vision Media’s benefit programs, subject to applicable plan documents and company policies, including:

  • Medical and dental insurance.
  • 401(k) plan, including Vision Media’s 3% safe-harbor contribution; additional profit-sharing eligibility may apply after one year of service under the plan.
  • Ten days (80 hours) of vacation during the first year of employment, available after 30 days and prorated as applicable.
  • Paid sick leave accrued in accordance with Washington law and company policy.
  • Three personal holidays each calendar year, prorated as applicable.
  • Company-paid holidays and other paid office closures in accordance with the annual company calendar.
  • Hybrid-work flexibility and other company programs, subject to the needs of the role and company policy.
