Job summary

County of Santa Barbara seeks a Communications Dispatch Supervisor to lead a team in the Regional Fire Communications Center. You will supervise dispatchers, ensure seamless operations, and collaborate with the Dispatch Manager to foster excellence and innovation.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in emergency dispatch, leadership experience, and knowledge of IROC/CalFire contracts. The role is full-time in Santa Barbara, CA, with a comprehensive benefits package and a focus on public safety

Qualifications

• Three years of dispatching experience in an emergency/public safety dispatch center.
• Two years at lead-worker level or equivalent with training entry-level dispatchers (480 hours).
• Ability to type 35 wpm and pass assessments; work rotating shifts including nights/weekends; pass background, polygraph, medical exams.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Communications Dispatchers in the Dispatch Center; assign, evaluate, and counsel staff; ensure policy compliance.
• Maintain agency standards through leadership, accountability, and discipline.
• Assist in designing training manuals, procedures, and reference materials.
