Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Histology Department supervisor to oversee staff and daily operations in a fast-paced lab. You will drive results by providing operational leadership, defining scope of work, and delivering results through execution and technical guidance.

You will supervise, hire, train, and evaluate staff, coordinate staffing, equipment, and workflow, ensure regulatory compliance and quality control, and support budgeting within the Histology department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Current license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in New York.
• State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
• 4 years of technical experience, 0–2 years of leadership/management experience preferred.
• Master's Degree with 2 years of technical Histology experience preferred.

• Leads activities of assigned team by communicating and guiding toward objectives.
• Supervises, hires, trains, disciplines and evaluates staff performance.
• Coordinates staffing, material, and equipment needs; monitors workflow changes.

• Ensures maintenance and calibration of equipment for proper functioning.
• Assists with budget preparation and compliance.
• Performs related duties as required in accordance with ADA.

Supervises and coordinates the staff and daily activities of staff in a laboratory. Drives results in a fast-paced environment by providing operational leadership and by interacting with clients, presenting organizational capabilities, defining scope of work and delivering results through execution and technical guidance.

Job Responsibility

• Promotes Clinical Laboratory Operations' department goals by selecting, motivating, and training capable team members.
• Leads the activities of assigned Clinical Laboratory Operations team members by communicating and providing guidance toward achieving department objectives.
• Supervises, hires, trains, disciplines and evaluates the performance of staff. Ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner. Prioritises, schedules, assigns and monitors work to optimise operational performance.
• Co-ordinates staffing, material requirements and equipment needs. Analyzes, recommends, implements and monitors approved work-flow changes, procedures and protocols.
• Implements System/Department policies and government regulations, and monitors compliance. Maintains quality control activities and records.
• Ensures maintenance and calibration of equipment to assure proper functioning.
• Assists with preparation of and compliance with the approved operating budget.
