Job Summary

Plans, organizes, and directs the operations of the Central Sterile Supply (CSS) Department, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations. Oversees decontamination and sterilization practices, manages instrumentation procurement, and acts as a resource for surgical teams and technicians. Responsible for department operations, staffing, and performance management.

Responsibilities

1. Directs overall CSS operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and quality standards.
2. Communicates effectively with staff through meetings and other mechanisms.
3. Manages employee performance, development, and recruitment.
4. Develops and implements policies, procedures, and competencies.
5. Coordinates sterilization priorities based on schedules.
6. Manages instrumentation costs, repairs, and inventory accuracy.
7. Performs all CSS functions as needed, including preparing and inspecting surgical instruments and endoscopes.

Qualifications

• Typically five years of CSS healthcare or surgical services experience.
• Three years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong management, leadership, and communication skills.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be certified through a recognized national sterile processing program accepted by the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services.
