Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a skilled trades leader to supervise a team of carpenters and painters, oversee shop operations, and deliver high-quality construction, renovation, and maintenance across our campuses.

Hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with weekends/holidays as needed. The role emphasizes safety, budget tracking, training, and adherence to hospital policies to support exceptional patient care environments.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in skilled trades such as carpentry and painting.
• Experience supervising a team and assigning work.
• Strong knowledge of safety practices in construction/maintenance.
• Budget tracking and resource planning abilities.

• Supervise carpentry and paint shop personnel and assign work.
• Inspect completed work and ensure quality and safety.
• Provide guidance on policy or procedure changes and training.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and performance evaluations.

• Acts as a resource for section personnel.
• Provides information concerning policy or procedure changes.
• Promotes safety.
• Conducts training.
• Completes performance evaluations and handles disciplinary actions.
• Provides staffing and scheduling to meet departmental needs.
• Remains aware of the project priorities to allocate resources for timely completion.
• Interviews candidates and makes hiring recommendations.
• Reviews completed work orders, including time and work.
• Completes reports as required.
• Develops procedures for carpentry and paint section.
• Ensures inventory of materials and supplies are maintained to meet workload needs.
• Maintains inventory of tools and equipment.
• Ensures that tools and equipment remain in safe operating condition.
• Provides for repair and maintenance as required.
• Tracks daily budget activities, expense, capital equipment, etc.
• Provides input to management for annual budget planning.
• Inspects interior and exteriors of buildings on a regular basis.
• Maintains records of requisitions, man hours and materials used on each project, daily assignments, daily personnel reports and type of materials used in all areas of hospital.
• Evaluates and recommends new products.
