About the Job

The Supervisor - Cargo Operations plans, executes, and optimizes the movement, storage, tracking, and delivery of cargo throughout the supply chain cycle. This role helps ensure cargo operations are conducted safely, securely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations and company standards. The position supports logistics operations, monitors performance, resolves operational challenges, and maintains effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. The supervisor also leads front-line teams to deliver reliable service and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily cargo operations, including freight and mail handling activities, CRIS functions, and ramp coordination.
  • Assign and adjust staffing and operational resources to support workflow demands and achieve operational performance goals.
  • Monitor cargo operations and resolve routine operational issues to support safe, efficient, and on-time execution.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements, including FAA, TSA, and IATA standards.
  • Conduct operational audits and spot checks, identify compliance gaps, and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Coach, develop, and support front-line co-workers and business partners while reinforcing operational and service standards.
  • Address customer and stakeholder concerns through timely communication and effective issue resolution.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts that enhance operational efficiency, safety, service quality, and overall effectiveness.

Note: This position works 100% of the time onsite at the Houston Cargo Facility with varying hours and may require occasional travel.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 1+ year of experience in cargo operations, logistics, warehouse operations, transportation, or a related operational environment
  • Experience coordinating day-to-day operational activities and resource assignments in a fast-paced setting
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading people management activities, including coaching, development, or oversight of front-line operational teams
  • Experience in customer service operations with a focus on delivering high-quality service and resolving operational challenges
  • Experience with warehouse organization and cargo handling operations, including inventory, storage, workflow, or material movement processes
  • Knowledge of safety, security, and regulatory compliance requirements related to cargo operations
  • Regular attendance and punctuality in accordance with United's policies is required
  • May require working weekends, holidays, and/or shift work
  • May require occasional travel (less than 5%)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Must be eligible to acquire and maintain credentials vital for the position
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems and cargo tracking processes
  • Experience working with customs clearance, customs brokerage, or freight handling activities
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives in an operational environment
  • Experience measuring effectiveness through operational metrics, performance monitoring, or process evaluation
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the capabilities and limitations of generative AI tools and effectively leverages them to support research, analysis, content creation, and problem-solving. Apply critical thinking to validate AI-generated outputs while adhering to organizational policies for responsible AI use, data privacy, and security.

The base pay range for this role is $80,235.90 to $98,066.10.

The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
