The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is seeking a Supervisor, Bus Maintenance. This is an Essential Personnel position at the supervisory, technical and administrative level of work. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: planning, coordinating, and forecasting personnel for servicing MTA buses and other vehicles; employee tracking; distribution of random drug and alcohol testing; labor relations; initiating new procedures and ideas; issuing disciplinary actions; and executing provisions of MTA rules, regulations, policies, and labor contracts.
Bus Maintenance Supervisors directly supervise A, B, and C Repairpersons, and Cleaners. They receive general supervision from a Bus Maintenance Superintendent or other designated officials and are expected to carry assignments through completion independently. While existing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures govern the work, Bus Maintenance Supervisors exercise considerable judgment in interpreting and applying them to unusual or non-standard situations.
Baltimore City
Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Four years in the repair, maintenance, and inspection of heavy-duty automotive vehicles and equipment. *Two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience overseeing staff, assigning and reviewing work, providing direction and guidance, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Employment requires a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in the State of Maryland.
Managers should foster a positive safety culture by leading with integrity and establishing departmental safety practices and procedures for all employees. They must attend and participate in safety meetings; adhere to and enforce all safety rules, policies, regulations, and personal protective equipment requirements; ensure employees are properly trained and provided with personal protective equipment; report hazards, unsafe acts, near misses, injuries, and accidents immediately to the Office of Safety; and collaborate to mitigate reported hazards in a timely manner. Conduct safety risk assessments and/or job hazard analyses as needed.
