Job Summary

Supervise the activities of team personnel to provide ownership of critical billing tasks for targeted broker blocks of business under our Valued Partner Relations (VPR) model. The Supervisor Benefits Administration will have the following:

  • Demonstrated skills: Apply principles and techniques of management and supervision to coach, empower and motivate employees; identify opportunities for workflow, procedural or systems improvements, and the means to accomplish them; effectively negotiate and mediate to arrive at mutually acceptable decisions with field and home office personnel; make prompt decisions and recommendations in the absence of specific directions.

  • Ability to: Communicate and lead change efforts in support of division goals; effectively handle change. Apply techniques of supervision including communication, listening, leadership, team building, and role modeling; express ideas clearly and accurately in both written and verbal communication.

  • Working knowledge of: Division operations; human resource practices, procedures and requirements; Employee Benefits products, contracts, administration and procedures; procedures and systems.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee team of customer-facing roles for key partners, including strategic problem-solving, collaboration across internal teams, and regular customer-facing communication to ensure accurate billing and administration support.

  • Direct team personnel to meet established production standards for responsiveness and accuracy.

    • Manage quality assurance process and results to drive continuous individual and team improvement.

    • Coordinate and partner with other leaders to ensure maximum consistency and efficiency in process.

  • Review, negotiate, and resolve problems or issues with/for policyholders, field personnel, team members and other internal and external customers.

  • Promote and maintain a collaborative team environment within your team and with cross functional teams within billing, sales support and field sales and account executives.

  • Hire, train, inspire and develop employees, foster an engaging work environment with intrinsic and extrinsic rewards.

    • Hold employees self-accountable to behavior and performance in accordance with Lean principles, our values, competencies.

    • Provide support to the team, understand how the team is performing, identify and ensure problems are surfaced and addressed at the appropriate level, coach and develop employees to solve problems,

    • Develop and maintain efficient and effective workflow and staffing to ensure regular processing targets are met.

    • Ensure measurement of performance provides line of sight metrics from department, team and individual levels

Skills and Background You’ll Need
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Experience:

    • 5+ years of customer service experience in an office or business environment

    • 2+ years of leadership experience

    • Insurance industry experience, specifically employee voluntary benefits, highly preferred

    • Must have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and intermediate knowledge of Word, Share Point, Teams and Salesforce

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to interpret complex data and interact with customers, including resolving escalated situations

    • Demonstrated problem solving, decision making and analytical thinking consistent with company objectives

    • Comfortable in a highly collaborative environment and open to both giving and receiving feedback

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range: $57,750.00 - $92,250.00
