Job summary

Maryland Coalition of Families in Maryland is seeking a Home-Based Supervisor to lead a team of Family Peer Support Specialists. The role focuses on coaching, QA, training, and ensuring program outcomes while adhering to contract guidelines.

Ideal candidates have lived caregiver experience, a bachelor’s degree in human services, supervisory experience, and strong communication, organizational, and data-use skills.

Qualifications

  • Lived experience as a primary caregiver of a youth or young adult with a behavioral health disorder.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field required.
  • Prior supervisory experience in the human services field is required.
  • Must live in Harford County or Baltimore County/City.
  • Strong organizational, written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to identify and resolve conflict.
  • Ability to interpret and use data to drive decision making.
  • Ability to travel throughout the state; Maryland driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.
  • Background check successful completion required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day programmatic supervision to Family Peer Support Specialists and work conducted in assigned region.
  • Meet at least every other week one-to-one with each direct report to provide consistent individual coaching and support.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance audits of family engagement records and oversee training needs.
  • Lead peer consultation groups to foster collaboration among participants and support.
  • Oversee and manage training for all new direct reports and coordinate orientation.
  • Collaborate with Program Manager to ensure funds are spent according to contract guidelines.
  • Understand and use key data points to identify performance issues.
  • Lead annual performance appraisals of direct report staff with HR involvement.
  • Manage personnel accountability including coaching, disciplinary actions and improvement plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

We seek people who have had personal experience (not work related) as a primary caregiver of a loved one with a behavioral health challenge.

MCF provides equipment, mileage reimbursement and paid training.

Who We Are Founded in 1999, Maryland Coalition of Families (MCF) is a statewide nonprofit with a central office in Columbia, Md., and staff located in communities throughout the state. Using personal experience as parents, caregivers, youth, and other loved ones, we connect, support, and empower Maryland’s families. Our staff provide one-to-one support to parents and caregivers of loved ones with behavioral health challenges. We also advocate to improve systems that impact individuals with behavioral health challenges.

The Team Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and guidance of the Family Peer Support Specialists(FPSS) assigned to their team. Must live in Harford County or Baltimore County/City

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day programmatic supervision to Family Peer Support Specialists and work conducted in assigned region.
  • Meet at least every other week one-to-one with each direct report to provide consistent individual coaching and support.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance audits of family engagement records, provide feedback to staff on areas of needed improvement, and oversee additional training needs to address deficiencies.
  • Conduct regular and consistent peer consultation groups, fostering an environment of collaboration among participants and encouraging open, productive dialogue and support.
  • Oversee and manage training for all new direct reports, ensuring all orientation tasks are completed in prescribed timeframe. This may include direct training on orientation topics or coordinating the delivery of training by other MCF personnel.
  • Collaborate with Program Manager to ensure contract funds are spent according to contract guidelines and deliverables are met.
  • Understand and use key data points to identify personnel performance issues or challenges meeting contract expectations.
  • Lead annual performance appraisals of direct report staff in partnership with the Program Manager and Human Resources.
  • Manage personnel accountability including identifying coaching opportunities, addressing performance issues as they arise, writing and delivering documented conversations, corrective action and performance improvement plans for direct reports with support from the Program Manager and Human Resources Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Lived experience as a primary caregiver of a youth or young adult with a behavioral health disorder is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required - preferably in a human services field.
  • Prior supervisory experience in the human services field is required.
  • Must live in Harford County or Baltimore County/City
  • Strong organizational, written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to identify and resolve conflict.
  • Ability to interpret and use data to drive decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve established outcomes.
  • Effectively utilize technology, including databases, and possess a working knowledge of standard computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to travel throughout the state and within the region regularly. Must possess current Maryland driver’s license and insurance, and have access to own vehicle.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required for all MCF employees.
Hours and Compensation
  • Full-Time 40 hours/week
  • Salary: $49,920-$54,080/yearly
  • MCF provides equipment, mileage reimbursement, and paid training.
