Job summary

The Missouri Department of Mental Health, St. Charles Habilitation Center, is seeking a Supervising Support Care Assistant to oversee direct-care shift duties at the Resource Building in St. Charles, MO. Working hours are 6:30am to 3:00pm with Friday/Saturday off.

You will supervise staff, manage assignments, conduct rounds and emergencies, and administer medications. A minimum of 2 years’ direct care with developmental disabilities and CME/L1MA certification are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of direct care experience with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Current CME or L1MA certification.
• Ability to supervise and train direct care staff.
• Experience in medication administration.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, evaluate, and support direct care staff during shifts, recording changes in condition, behavior, and mood of individuals served.
• Ensure minimum staffing coverage, report issues to Unit Manager, conduct shift rounds and monthly drills, provide home coverage as needed.
• Prepare work assignments, keep attendance records, maintain discipline, and provide training to staff.
• Be accountable for administering medications and prescribed treatments.

Job Location: St. Louis Developmental Disabilities Treatment Centers (SLDDTC) is currently recruiting to fill a Supervising Support Care Assistant position to work in the Resource Building. This position is located at St. Charles Habilitation Center, 22 Marr Lane, St. Charles, MO 63303. Working hours are 6:30am to 3:00pm, with Friday/Saturday days off. The Supervising SCA is a front-line supervisor who is responsible for overseeing direct-care shift responsibilities at St. Charles Habilitation Center.

What You’ll Do

• Supervise, evaluate, and support direct care staff in the performance of their job duties, which includes, recording changes in the physical condition, behavioral response and emotional status of individuals served.
• Will be responsible for ensuring minimum staffing coverage, reporting any staffing issues to the Unit Manager, performing shift rounds, conducting monthly emergency drills and providing home coverage as needed.
• Prepare work assignments, keep attendance records, maintain discipline, and provide training to direct care staff.
• Be accountable for administrating medication and prescribed treatments.

All you need for success as a Supervising Support Care Assistant:

A minimum 2 years of experience with direct care with individuals who are primarily diagnosed with developmental disabilities and must have current Certified Medical Employee (CME or L1MA) certification.
