We are seeking qualified individuals for the Supervising Pediatric Therapist position in Contra Costa County Health Services. The department currently has one (1) vacancy in the California Children’s Services (CCS) unit within the Public Health Division. The position will be located at the West County Medical Therapy Unit (MTU) in San Pablo, CA.

Under general direction, the Supervising Pediatric Therapist directs and supervises the day-to-day operations and the work of staff assigned to a Medical Therapy Unit within the California Children Services Program; supervises Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Therapist Aides, and Clerks. Acts as a liaison between the school administration and the medical therapy unit; and does related work as required. The CCS Medical Therapy Program provides medically necessary physical, occupational, and medical therapy conference services to children who are medically eligible for the program.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months.

License Required: Candidates must possess a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state Motor Vehicle Operator's License will be accepted during the application process.

Certification: Candidates must possess and maintain throughout the duration of employment a valid License as a Physical Therapist issued by the Physical Therapy Board of California or a valid License to practice as an Occupational Therapist, issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy.

Experience: Three (3) years of full-time or its equivalent experience as a physical or occupational therapist providing therapy to pediatric patients, at least one (1) year of that experience must have been in a lead capacity.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Prior to employment, a background investigation/fingerprint exam will be conducted on all candidates.

  1. Application Filing and Evaluation: All applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
  2. Virtual Oral Assessment: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an online video assessment. The assessment will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job and candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the competencies, as well as an overall passing score of 70% or higher. These competencies may include but are not limited to: Critical Thinking, Decision Making, Building & Maintaining Relationships, Handling Stress, Attention to Detail and Oral Communication.

The Virtual Oral Assessment is tentatively scheduled to take place via computer (remotely) during the week of January 26, 2025.

The Virtual Oral Assessment will be administered remotely using a computer or mobile device such as a tablet or smartphone. You will need access to a reliable internet connection to take the assessment, as well as a computer or mobile device with a camera.

The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
