Job summary

Nation’s Finest in Reno, NV seeks a Supervising Case Manager to lead community case managers and ensure effective intake, referrals, and case management. You will oversee a reduced caseload while supporting overall program success and may serve as interim Site Director during absences.

Qualifications

Job Title: Supervising Case Manager

Status: Non-Exempt, Full time

Location: Reno, NV

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for supervising community case managers within an individual location. This position works closely with the Site Director or Assistant Site Director in managing intakes and referrals, case management, invoice processing, and overall program success within the assigned community-based program.

This position is also responsible for managing a reduced individual case load, based on the unique needs of the service location.

This position may also act as interim Site Director or interim Assistant Site Director during periods of extended absence or turnover.

Job Duties:

  1. Supervises Community Case Managers within the assigned community-based program.
  2. Ensures that client intakes and referrals are managed efficiently and assigned to appropriate team members based on the needs of the clients, and the strengths of the team members.
  3. Manages a reduced individual case load based on the unique needs of the location, ensuring that the individual case load does not create a barrier to successfully managing other Case Managers.
  4. Facilitates the achievement of client wellness and autonomy through advocacy, assessment, planning, communication, education, resource management, and service facilitation.
  5. Respond to client requests for assistance by initially screening for suitability and eligibility for both in-house and other-agency programs. As necessary, act as the client's advocate to assist in receiving needed services. Provide program information assistance and/or make referrals to appropriate services.   6. Provides client households with strength based, housing focused plans designed to encourage participant engagement. Plans will be focused on meeting the unique needs of the individual households being served.
  7. Manages creative outreach techniques to reach new clients by working closely with staff and volunteers to develop and implement an outreach program which will allow staff to engage homeless veterans on the street and in encampments to let them know about services and resources.
  8. Travels to other referral agencies and to clients’ homes, as necessary, to accomplish outreach, intakes and follow-ups.
  9. Closely monitors and ensures all funding agency performance goals and objectives are met or exceeded. Assist Site Director in making planned changes and revisions to program operations to meet established guidelines.
  10. Works closely with the Site Director and Quality Assurance team to ensure program files are audit ready at all times, and all financial assistance payments meet program guidelines.
  11. Attends community meetings, as requested, to advocate for the organization and to collaborate with community partners.
  12. Provides motivational coaching and mentoring to other Case Managers.
  13. Actively works to foster a work environment where all clients, staff members, and community partners feel a sense of belonging and respect.
  14. Maintains a personal resource file of social service agency contacts and landlords in the area in order to refer clients to needed services.
  15. Coordinates landlord recruitment and retention.
  16. Assesses and approves client financial requests in the SAGE software system.
  17. Acts as interim Site Director or Assistant Site Director during periods of extended leadership absence or turnover.
  18. Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Competencies:

  1. Demonstrated ability to engage with and lead a high-performance team in a stressful and active work environment.
  2. Ability to mentor and coach other employees, and to encourage innovation, creativity, and collaboration among team members.
  3. Ability to work with a diverse population of adults and children, including those with physical and mental disabilities and addictions and those who are in, or need to be in, recovery. Ability to work with clients who have significant barriers to include but not limited to legal barriers, prison or long-term incarceration. Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  4. Ability to conduct a general assessment of the physical, mental, and emotional health of individual clients, and concisely document that assessment. Ability to maintain client confidentiality and personal boundaries within organization policies.
  5. Ability to organize and interpret data and information relative to clients and program.
  6. Working knowledge of MS Office programs, specifically MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  7. Ability to manage remote/hyrbid team members while ensuring accountability and engagement.
  8. Demonstrated understanding of the importance of collaboration, feedback, and active listening.
  9. Ability to advocate for the organization to external groups and partners.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with two years of college level coursework in related field (psychology, sociology) preferred. AA/AS degree required. Year for year nonprofit supervisory experience may be substituted for the required education. At least one year of experience managing a team of at least 3 individuals, preferably within a nonprofit or social services setting, is required.

Broad working knowledge of services within the local area highly desirable. Strong passion for veteran issues.

Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook programs, and familiar with entering data in database programs. Preference for Bachelor’s degree in related field. Must have clean DMV record and reliable transportation.

Veteran status preferred, but not required.

Offering:

$36.00 - $42.00 per hour ($63,648 - $74,256) depending on experience and location. Comprehensive benefits.
