Job summary

Jackola Engineering & Architecture is seeking an experienced Architect to lead design, technical delivery, and growth of our Bozeman practice. You will mentor staff, guide projects from concept through construction, and strengthen client relationships to deliver impactful community-focused design.

The role requires 10+ years of professional experience, a licensed architecture credential, and proficiency in Revit and BIM workflows.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in architecture or higher.
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the building industry; 15+ years preferred.
• Licensed Architect with current professional registration; NCARB certification preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading architectural projects from concept through construction.
• Strong design and technical excellence with a commitment to quality.
• Proven leadership skills to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor architectural staff throughout project planning, design, documentation, and construction phases.
• Foster a collaborative environment that promotes innovation, professional growth, and design excellence.
• Guide project teams through complex design challenges while ensuring budget, schedule, and client expectations.
• Serve as a technical and design resource for project teams, consultants, and clients.
• Oversee preparation, review, and approval of construction documents, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals.
• Ensure project deliverables reflect sound design principles, technical accuracy, and applicable code requirements.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Participate in business development efforts, including proposals, interviews, and client management.
• Support long-term studio growth through leadership, mentorship, and strategic planning.

Requirements

• Master's degree in architecture or higher.
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the building industry; 15+ years preferred.
• Licensed Architect with current professional registration. NCARB certification preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading architectural projects from concept through construction.
• Strong design and technical expertise with a commitment to delivering high-quality projects.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
• Passion for mentoring and developing less experienced staff.
• Thorough understanding of the International Building Code (IBC), accessibility requirements, and related regulations.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to balance competing priorities.
• Strategic thinker with the flexibility to adapt to changing project and business needs.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and BIM workflows with a strong understanding of collaborative project delivery.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and Bluebeam preferred.
