Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking an APP Supervisor for Critical Care in Peoria, IL. The role blends administrative leadership with direct patient care, guiding advanced practice providers and coordinating staffing, onboarding, and performance reviews.

You will monitor quality metrics, implement evidence-based practices, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians and nurses to maintain service excellence.

Qualifications

  • Licensed as NP or PA in Illinois with applicable provider privileges.
  • BLS/ACLS certified and ACNP certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of Critical Care experience.
  • Eligible to participate in OSF malpractice coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational oversight of APPs within the Critical Care service line.
  • Manage APP staffing, scheduling, productivity, recruitment, onboarding, and orientation.
  • Monitor quality indicators, identify trends, and drive improvement strategies.
  • Support provider development, conduct performance evaluations, and address concerns.
  • Foster a positive work environment through engagement and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with physician and nursing leadership to ensure service excellence.
  • Provide direct patient care while serving as a clinical role model (approx. 70% admin, 30% clinical).

Overview

The APP Supervisor for Critical Care is a key leadership role responsible for operational oversight, team performance, and the ongoing development of advanced practice providers within the Critical Care service line. The APP Supervisor ensures high-quality, patient-centered care through strong operational management, implementation of evidence-based practice, and development of a highly engaged provider team.

JOB SPECIFICS
  • The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) demonstrates the knowledge and clinical expertise necessary to manage the care of critically ill adult patients.
  • Provide operational oversight of APPs within the Critical Care service line.
  • Manage APP staffing, scheduling, productivity, recruitment, onboarding, and orientation.
  • Monitor quality indicators, identify trends, and implement improvement strategies to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
  • Support provider development, complete and discuss performance evaluations, and address performance, professionalism, and safety concerns.
  • Foster a positive work environment through engagement, recognition, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Collaborate closely with physician and nursing leadership to ensure team alignment, service excellence, and successful implementation of clinical and quality initiatives.
  • Provide direct patient care while serving as a clinical role model, with responsibilities divided into approximately 70% administrative and 30% clinical.

  • Full-time, clinical base hourly pay range for this position: $64.61-$72.87. This position is paid hourly.
    • Range shown should be used as an estimate and can be impacted by many factors including but not limited to the critical need of the position, overall experience and qualifications, community need, and other considerations. Additional compensation components may be applicable such as bonuses or incentives which may or may not be based on metric achievement

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed to provide either advanced practice nursing services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act OR physician assistant services as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987.
  • Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the State of Illinois to prescribe narcotics, if applicable.
  • BLS/ACLS Certified.
  • Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in Critical Care.
  • Must be eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs.
  • Provider shall meet all qualifications to participate in OSF's programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care aligned to the preferences, goals, and needs of the patients served.
