Job summary

OSF HealthCare seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to deliver critical care for adults in our intensive care unit. You will collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and specialists to deliver high-quality care.

You will evaluate and treat acute illnesses, order tests, interpret results, and perform invasive procedures per established protocols. 12-hour shifts, 36 hours/week, nights, weekends on a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• Licensed to provide advanced practice nursing or physician assistant services in Illinois.
• BLS/ACLS certification required.
• 2+ years of critical care patient management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for critically ill adult patients in the ICU.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other professionals.
• Evaluate and treat acute illnesses, order and interpret tests, and perform invasive procedures.

Overview

JOB SPECIFICS

• The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) demonstrates the knowledge and clinical expertise necessary to manage the care of critically ill adult patients.
• The APP functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary critical care team, working in close collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.
• Responsibilities include evaluating and treating acute illnesses and injuries, ordering and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, and performing invasive procedures in accordance with established protocols, policies, and evidence-based practice standards.
• The APP participates in the assessment and management of new admissions to the critical care unit and provides expert education, consultation, and patient advocacy to ensure optimal outcomes.
• 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, 3rd shift nights, 7p – 7a, 5 out of every 6 weekends required

• Full-time, clinical base hourly pay range for this position: $60.39-$68.10. Plus weekend premium. This position is paid hourly.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Licensed to provide either advanced practice nursing services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act OR physician assistant services as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987.
• Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the State of Illinois to prescribe narcotics, if applicable.
• BLS/ACLS Certified.
• Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)
• 2+ years of critical care patient management experience
• Must be eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs.
• Provider shall meet all qualifications to participate in OSF's programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care aligned to the preferences, goals, and needs of the patients served.
