Beth El Congregation in Baltimore, MD is seeking an experienced Director of Development to guide all fundraising efforts and sustain its mission. You will cultivate deep donor relationships, execute strategic campaigns, and collaborate with leadership to ensure financial stability.

The role requires overseeing campaigns, donor management, foundation relations, and reporting, with strong emphasis on community engagement and ongoing stewardship of supporters.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of success in annual giving with strong donor management skills.
• Creative and proactive individual who works well on teams and takes initiative.
• Mature interpersonal skills for relationships with staff, congregants and partners.
• Experience with volunteer management and event planning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication tailored to diverse audiences.
• Experience with donor management systems, reporting, and tracking.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of fundraising campaigns including annual appeal and events.
• Oversee donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies.
• Act as lead for the Development Committee and report to the Board.
• Collaborate with Soul Center on fundraising initiatives.
• Develop Foundations Campaign public phase toward a $10 million goal.
• Build and maintain relationships with foundation funders and manage grant reporting.
• Maintain donor databases and information systems.
• Represent Beth El Congregation at organizational and community events.

Beth El seeks an experienced Director of Development to join the congregation’s leadership team to provide guidance and direction to all aspects of the congregation’s fundraising efforts. This leader will cultivate deep donor relationships, execute strategic campaigns, and ensure financial sustainability of Beth El’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of fundraising campaigns including the annual appeal, event-based fundraising efforts, special initiatives
• Oversee and implement donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies, including building strong relationships with donors and prospective donors and serving as relationship manager
• Serve as lead professional for the Development Committee, providing regular updates on fundraising activities to the Board and leadership team
• Work closely with Soul Center colleagues on fundraising efforts, maximizing outcomes for the community
• Develop and implement public phase of Foundations Campaign to achieve $10 million goal
• Build and maintain positive relationships with local foundation funders and prospective funders; Direct granting process and reporting
• Maintain and optimize donor database and information systems
• Represent Beth El Congregation at organizational and community-wide events

• Mature interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with staff, congregants, and partners
• Experienced with volunteer management and event planning
• Excellent verbal and written communicator able to tailor messages to diverse audiences
• Experienced with donor management systems, reporting, and relationship tracking
• Skilled in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom and Google Office
• Deep understanding of Jewish values, traditions, Israel, and congregational life
• Ability and willingness to work outside of regular business hours
