The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the daily field operations of commercial waterproofing, façade restoration, concrete repair, and building-envelope projects. This position ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with contract documents, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company quality standards.

The Construction Superintendent provides direct leadership to Foremen, field crews, subcontractors, and vendors while coordinating closely with Project Managers, general contractors, property managers, building owners, consultants, and engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily field operations for commercial waterproofing, façade restoration, concrete repair, and building-envelope projects.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved plans, specifications, manufacturer requirements, project schedules, and company standards.
  • Supervise Foremen, field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and other jobsite personnel.
  • Assign daily work activities and monitor manpower, productivity, workmanship, and project progress.
  • Review and understand project drawings, specifications, details, scopes of work, contracts, and construction schedules.
  • Conduct preconstruction reviews and communicate project requirements, access plans, sequencing, safety expectations, and quality standards to field personnel.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers regarding manpower, material procurement, equipment, scheduling, project changes, and field conditions.
  • Conduct regular site walks to monitor progress, inspect workmanship, identify deficiencies, and verify that work complies with project requirements.
  • Oversee vertical and horizontal specialty construction projects, including:
    • Building façade restoration
    • Concrete repair and replacement
    • Parking garage restoration
    • Plaza and podium decks
    • Pool decks and balconies
    • Traffic-bearing and pedestrian coating systems
    • Expansion joint systems
    • Joint sealants and caulking
    • Below-grade and above-grade waterproofing
    • Air and vapor barrier systems
    • Masonry and exterior building repairs
  • Coordinate access equipment, scaffolding, aerial lifts, swing stages, suspended platforms, rigging systems, and fall‑protection requirements.
  • Ensure equipment, vehicles, tools, and materials are available, properly maintained, and used in accordance with company and manufacturer requirements.
  • Coordinate jobsite logistics, deliveries, staging areas, building access, tenant protection, traffic control, and work‑area protection.
  • Communicate professionally with owners, property managers, general contractors, consultants, engineers, Project Managers, and internal teams.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates regarding schedules, manpower, completed work, upcoming activities, delays, and field concerns.
  • Identify unforeseen field conditions and promptly communicate potential scope, schedule, or cost impacts to the Project Manager.
  • Assist with the preparation and documentation of RFIs, change orders, additional work requests, and time‑and‑material work.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports documenting manpower, completed work, materials, equipment, weather conditions, delays, inspections, and jobsite issues.
  • Track project milestones, production quantities, substantial completion dates, final completion dates, and punch‑list progress.
  • Coordinate inspections, mock‑ups, testing, quality‑control reviews, and manufacturer site visits.
  • Ensure waterproofing, restoration, coating, sealant, and concrete repair systems are installed according to approved details and manufacturer specifications.
  • Assist with punch‑list completion, final inspections, warranties, demobilization, and project closeout.
  • Promote a jobsite culture centered on safety, quality, accountability, respect, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Enforce OSHA regulations, company safety policies, project‑specific safety plans, and general contractor requirements.
  • Conduct or participate in daily pre‑task planning, toolbox talks, job hazard analyses, and safety inspections.
  • Ensure all employees and subcontractors use required personal protective equipment.
  • Monitor fall protection, scaffolding, rigging, aerial lift operation, confined‑space procedures, silica exposure, respiratory protection, and material‑handling practices.
  • Inspect jobsite access systems and verify that equipment is operated only by properly trained and authorized personnel.
  • Immediately address unsafe conditions, behaviors, or work practices.
  • Report incidents, near misses, property damage, and safety concerns in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain required safety documentation and certifications at the jobsite.
Qualifications Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of commercial waterproofing, façade restoration, concrete repair, and building-envelope construction.
  • Experience working for a commercial specialty contractor strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage both vertical and horizontal restoration projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret commercial construction plans, specifications, details, contracts, and scope documents.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, sequencing, access requirements, and jobsite logistics.
  • Knowledge of waterproofing products, concrete repair materials, sealants, coatings, membranes, and manufacturer installation requirements.
  • Experience supervising Foremen, field crews, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, schedules, deadlines, and active field priorities.
  • Ability to identify jobsite issues and communicate practical solutions quickly and clearly.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA standards and commercial construction safety requirements.
  • Experience with scaffolding, rigging, aerial lifts, swing stages, suspended access equipment, and fall‑protection systems.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with Project Managers, owners, general contractors, consultants, engineers, and field personnel.
  • Ability to accurately document project progress, delays, field conditions, and additional work.
  • Self‑motivated and capable of working independently in a field‑based position.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and construction or project management software.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years of commercial construction field experience preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Construction Superintendent, General Foreman, Foreman, or similar field leadership professional required.
  • Direct experience with commercial waterproofing, concrete repair, façade restoration, or building-envelope construction strongly preferred.
  • Experience with occupied commercial buildings, high‑rise properties, parking structures, institutional facilities, or multifamily properties is preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • Aerial lift, scaffolding, rigging, fall‑protection, swing‑stage, and manufacturer product certifications are preferred.
