Job summary

Nutrien Ag Solutions Limited in Augusta, GA is seeking a senior project engineer/manager to direct the planning, design and execution of capital projects that improve equipment, facilities and plant profitability. You will lead a multidisciplinary team and coordinate with outside engineering firms, maintenance and operations to deliver on-time, on-budget outcomes.

The role requires an engineering degree, 10+ years in chemical/continuous-process industries, and strong leadership and communication

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required.
• BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred; P.E. and/or PMP certification a plus.
• 10+ years in fertilizer, chemical, petrochemical, or other continuous process industries.
• 7+ years managing capital projects.
• Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of production systems, industry standards, and PSM compliance.
• Proficiency with planning tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across teams.
• Willingness to travel, support outages, and participate in on-call rotation as needed.

Responsibilities

• Directs the Project Engineers, Project Managers, and supporting technical staff in making the Plant more profitable by implementing capital projects from design to completion which improve, modify or replace equipment and facilities.
• Oversee outside engineering firms, contractors, etc. engaged in project activity.
• Manage project development, design, cost control, scheduling and execution.
• Ensure compliance with NPK Projects stage gate process and interaction with corporate oversight groups.
• Identify and facilitate implementation of production, reliability, efficiency and cost improvement opportunities.
• Contribute to Hazops and What If analyses on current operations and proposed changes via MOC process.
• Support RCFA analyses, incident investigations, reliability programs and Operational Risk Management.
• Develop and maintain site five year capital plan and annual capital budget with cross-functional input.
• Develop and updates of capital projects 5-year plan and reporting for monthly capital expenditure.

What You'll Do:

• Directs the Project Engineers, Project Managers, and supporting technical staff in making the Plant more profitable by implementing capital projects from design to completion which improve, modify or replace equipment and facilities
• Position involves management of outside engineering firms, contractors, etc. who are engaged in project activity
• Responsible for oversight of project development, design, cost control, scheduling and execution
• Responsible for compliance with NPK Projects stage gate process and interaction with corporate oversight groups
• Identifies and facilitates implementation of production, reliability, efficiency and cost improvement opportunities
• Performs and/or contributes to thorough process reviews, Hazard and Operability Studies (Hazops) and "What If' analyses on current operations as well as proposed changes to plant equipment, processes and systems via the plant Process Safety Management of Change (MOC) process
• Performs, supports, and/or contributes to Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA's),incident investigations, site’s reliability programs, and Operational Risk Management
• Generates and maintains site five year capital plan and annual capital budget through integration and prioritization of site project needs with involvement from process engineering superintendent, maintenance manager, general manager, operations, and Nutrien Technical Services.
• Responsible for development and ownership of annual project engineering expense budget.
• Responsible for development and updates of capital projects 5-year plan.
• Provide and update reporting for monthly capital expenditure, spend analysis, forecast spend, project estimates, and annual budgets.
• Executes projects via a project team that includes process engineers, maintenance engineers, equipment specialists, safety representatives, quality assurance representatives, project controls, and operations/maintenance personnel.
• Performs sufficient FEL engineering to adequately define project scope, technical risks, estimate and schedule before AFE preparation.

What You'll Bring:

• Engineering degree with relevant engineering experience required
