Qualifications

  • Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation relating to field activities.
  • Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy and ES&H frameworks.
  • LNG construction site experience, especially along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
  • Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience.
  • Experience in oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, minerals processing or power generation construction preferred.
  • Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of industry codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.

Project Overview

Bechtel is partnering with NextDecade to support their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas. RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984‑acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and one marine berth. At full capacity, the five‑train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Brownsville, Texas is a city known for its diverse history, tradition, and rich culture. Located in the southernmost region in the beautiful state of Texas, lays Brownsville a rich, tropical oasis bordering the Rio Grande River and near the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. Job Summary

In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets.

Major Responsibilities
  • Leadership / Supervision (Discipline Supervision up to 50 craft)
    • Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.
    • Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
  • Planning / Productivity
    • Determines workforce requirements.
    • Coordinates established area operational plans.
  • Tools, Materials & Equipment
    • Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.
    • Oversees the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
  • Safety & Quality
    • Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
    • Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
  • Technical
    • Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
    • Oversees engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
Education And Experience Requirements
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge And Skills
  • Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation relating to field activities.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy. Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisor’s ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan and the Bechtel Core Processes.
  • Experience on an LNG construction site especially along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
  • Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken.
  • Experience in oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, minerals processing or power generating station construction is preferred.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
Additional Information

Must be willing to work a flexible schedule as required that may include but not limited to nightshift or split shift. Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
