Job description

Crossroads Charter Schools of Kansas City is seeking a bold, equity-driven, and community-centered leader to serve as our next Superintendent.

About Us

Crossroads Charter Schools is a dynamic public charter school network serving students from diverse backgrounds with an unwavering commitment to belonging, high expectations, creative culture, and real-world learning.

  • Belonging: Every student, staff member, and family is valued, seen, and heard.
  • High Expectations: We set the bar high—for academic achievement and for ourselves.
  • Creative Culture: We encourage innovative teaching, joyful learning, and authentic self-expression.
  • Real World Learning: Our neighborhood is our classroom. We partner with Kansas City’s businesses, nonprofits, and arts organizations to prepare students for the real world—because we’re already in it.

We operate three schools: Crossroads Academy – Central Street (K–6), Crossroads Academy – Quality Hill (K–5), and Crossroads Preparatory Academy (7–12) as well as community partnerships for pre-kindergarten students.

The Role

This is not your typical Superintendent role. As our next leader reporting to the Board of Directors, you’ll have the opportunity to inherit a healthy, high-performing organization and take it to new heights.

  • Lead collaboratively with our executive team and central office team.
  • Champion our students and staff, ensuring equity, rigor, and joy in every classroom.
  • Keep student academic outcomes at the center of every decision, building on our strong foundation to ensure all students thrive.
  • Shape the next strategic plan in partnership with our engaged Board of Directors.
  • Deepen and expand partnerships with civic, business, and philanthropic leaders across Kansas City.
  • Drive long-term sustainability, including fundraising initiatives and facilities renovations with over $10M in bond funding.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Superintendent, reporting to the Board of Directors, leading strategic initiatives and executing the board-approved strategic plan.
  • Inspire, mentor, support, and manage a high-performing leadership team.
  • Act as Crossroads’ chief ambassador—representing us to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, funders, media, donors, sponsors, and community partners.
  • Ensure high-quality instruction, curriculum development, and student achievement across all schools.
  • Oversee district budgets, resources, and facilities to ensure fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency while building a culture of equity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Ideal Candidate
  • A transformational leader with 5+ years of progressive leadership in education.
  • Demonstrates a deep commitment to the power of urban education and the limitless potential of every child.
  • A proactive systems builder with a problem-solving mindset; enjoys tackling complex challenges.
  • A strategic leader who can drive the vision, create clarity, and position Crossroads as a premier charter network.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $150,000- $175,000. Crossroads Charter Schools offers a robust benefits package, including 100% paid insurance plan, generous paid time off, and opportunities for professional development.

Crossroads Charter Schools is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees and students.
