Job Title: Superintendent of Construction

This role oversees commercial and multi-family construction and renovation projects throughout Eastern Connecticut, managing day-to-day field operations from ground-up builds to complex commercial work. The Construction Superintendent leads on-site teams, coordinates subcontractors and suppliers, enforces safety standards, and ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with high-quality workmanship. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on construction professional who enjoys being in the field, driving schedules, resolving issues in real time, and taking ownership of projects from initial mobilization through final closeout, while contributing to a growing development organization with projects across the United States.

Responsibilities

• Manage all on-site construction activities for assigned commercial and multi-family projects, including ground-up construction and renovation work.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel to ensure efficient sequencing of trades and continuous progress on site.
• Maintain project schedules, including three-week lookahead schedules in MS Project, and ensure work progresses according to established milestones.
• Conduct daily site walks to monitor safety, quality, and productivity, and to identify potential issues before they impact schedule or budget.
• Lead regular subcontractor meetings to review upcoming work, clarify expectations, and coordinate project logistics such as deliveries, access, and site utilization.
• Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and contract documents to guide field execution and ensure compliance with design intent.
• Identify, communicate, and proactively resolve field issues and conflicts between trades, design details, and site conditions.
• Monitor site safety continuously and enforce compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
• Track deliveries, manpower levels, material usage, and equipment needs to support accurate planning and resource allocation.
• Prepare clear and detailed daily reports documenting project progress, manpower, inspections, safety observations, and site conditions.
• Coordinate required inspections with building officials and third-party inspectors, ensuring work complies with applicable building codes and regulations.
• Oversee punch list completion, ensuring all deficiencies are corrected promptly and to the required quality standards.
• Manage project closeout activities, including final inspections, documentation, and turnover to stakeholders.
• Use construction management software, including Procore, to manage documentation, RFIs, submittals, and field communication.
• Collaborate with project management teams to provide accurate updates on schedule, field issues, and resource needs.
• Support and reinforce a culture of safety, accountability, and high-quality workmanship on the job site.

Essential Skills

• At least 5 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or similar field leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience managing commercial construction projects from start to finish, including ground-up construction.
• Experience with multi-family construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing of trades, and scheduling principles.
• Ability to read and accurately interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
• Proven track record of effectively managing subcontractors and multiple trades on active job sites.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in the field.
• Clear and professional communication skills for interacting with subcontractors, project teams, and inspectors.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications used in construction management.
• Proficiency with construction management software, particularly Procore.
• Experience using MS Project for schedule management and creating three-week lookahead schedules.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to and from job sites.
• Commitment to enforcing and adhering to OSHA safety standards on site.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• OSHA 30 certification preferred and strongly valued.
• OSHA 10 training and familiarity with OSHA 10 safety requirements.
• Experience working with commercial developers and on projects located across multiple regions.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with field personnel, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with evolving project needs and priorities.

Work Environment

This is an on-site, field-based role that primarily operates at active construction projects in Eastern Connecticut. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with typical full-time daytime hours driven by project needs and milestones. The work environment is a dynamic construction site setting involving ground-up and commercial builds, multi-family projects, and renovation work, where you frequently walk the site, observe field activities, and interact with multiple trades. You will regularly use construction technologies and tools such as Procore for project management, MS Project for schedule planning and three-week lookaheads, and standard Microsoft Office applications for documentation and communication. The job site environment requires adherence to all safety protocols, including OSHA standards, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and compliance with site-specific safety procedures. Job Type & Location

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $62.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
