Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a seasoned supervisor to direct field supervision and craft personnel across piping, plumbing, or sheet metal. You will ensure quality, safety, and cost-efficiency while coordinating labor needs for project activities and maintenance.

You will mentor supervisors, interpret policies, and participate in safety investigations. The role may include jurisdictional disputes and occasional superintendent duties as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
• Completion of craft apprenticeship program or equivalent skill level and training.
• OSHA-30 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six months from date of hire).
• Ability to understand project scopes and objectives and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction to field supervision and craft personnel (piping, plumbing, or sheet metal).
• Plan, direct, and coordinate craft personnel for project/site needs.
• Mentor subordinate supervisory personnel and serve as senior technical advisor.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, safety programs, and cost-efficiency guidelines.
• Develop and monitor quality control programs; track labor and costs.
• Oversee organization, scheduling, and implementation of construction projects.
• Assist in bargaining disputes as required; participate in safety investigations.
• May assume superintendent responsibilities when necessary.

  Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent; some college preferred
  • Completion of craft apprenticeship program or equivalent skill level and training
  • 5+ years in supervisory position
  • Ability to understand the project scopes and objectives as well as scopes of other construction trades
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of OSHA safety regulations as well as company safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to read drawings and interpret specifications
  • Ability to assess crew and foremen skills and coach/mentor
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems before major difficulties develop
  • Ability to manage differences and diversity at the workplace
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control
  • Ability to handle administrative duties of position, including completion of required paperwork

  • Employment is contingent upon satisfying all jobsite-specific access requirements, with no outstanding restrictions from any jobsite or from working with any of Southland’s partnering General Contractors, Owners, Customers, etc.
  • OSHA-30 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire)
