Job summary

Worley is seeking a Superintendent - Mechanical/Piping to provide site-based leadership for mechanical and piping construction, ensuring safe, efficient delivery and alignment with project objectives. Play an integral role in delivering sustainable infrastructure and industrial construction projects that support the world's evolving energy, chemicals, and resources needs. As a Superintendent - Mechanical/Piping, you will provide site-based leadership for all mechanical and piping construction activities, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with customer expectations, project objectives, and Worley's commitment to sustainable project delivery.

Working at the center of project execution, you will coordinate field operations, supervise multidisciplinary construction teams, and drive a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and operational excellence. Your leadership will directly influence project performance, workforce productivity, customer satisfaction, and successful project outcomes.

Purpose of the role

The Superintendent - Mechanical/Piping plays a critical role in this journey by leading and overseeing the safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of on-site mechanical and piping construction activities.

Working directly at the project site, the Superintendent - Mechanical/Piping is responsible for supervising and coordinating field operations, integrating field administration, subcontractor management, procurement coordination, and construction execution activities to ensure the successful delivery of projects. This role is essential in aligning day-to-day construction management with Worley's strategic ambition to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions for our customers.

You will be responsible for
  • Leading, coordinating, and supervising all on-site mechanical and piping construction activities to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved schedules and budgets.
  • Driving a proactive safety culture by ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements while promoting sustainable work practices.
  • Overseeing and integrating field administration, procurement coordination, subcontractor management, and field engineering activities to support project objectives.
  • Acting as a primary site contact for project execution, fostering strong communication between project teams, customers, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Providing leadership and technical guidance to mechanical and piping construction personnel, supervisors, and subcontractors while promoting collaboration and accountability.
  • Monitoring construction progress, evaluating project performance, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks and maintain project commitments.
  • Supporting the integration of sustainability-focused solutions into project delivery and identifying opportunities to enhance environmental and operational performance.
  • Collaborating closely with engineering, procurement, commissioning, quality, and project management teams to optimize workflows and improve project execution.
  • Managing workforce planning, productivity, and resource allocation to ensure effective utilization of labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracted resources.
  • Ensuring mechanical and piping installation activities are completed in accordance with project specifications, codes, standards, contractual requirements, and company procedures.
  • Overseeing piping fabrication and installation, mechanical equipment setting, pressure testing, system turnover, and construction completion activities.
  • Preparing and communicating construction progress reports, forecasts, and performance updates to project leadership and stakeholders.
  • Identifying and resolving field-related challenges through practical and innovative solutions that support project objectives.
  • Promoting a respectful, diverse, and inclusive work environment where team members are empowered to contribute to project success.
  • Championing continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project performance, workforce engagement, and operational excellence.

What you'll bring to the role

You are a respected construction leader with demonstrated success directing mechanical and piping construction activities on complex industrial, energy, chemicals, resources, infrastructure, or major capital projects. You combine strong technical expertise with a collaborative leadership style and a commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable project delivery.

Key qualifications include:

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline, or a trade qualification supported by extensive mechanical and piping construction leadership experience.
  • Proven experience supervising mechanical and piping construction projects and leading field execution teams in industrial or large-scale construction environments.
  • Strong knowledge of piping systems, mechanical equipment installation, field engineering practices, site administration, procurement coordination, and construction management principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage construction schedules, workforce planning, productivity improvement, and resource allocation.
  • Experience overseeing mechanical equipment installation, piping fabrication and erection, hydrotesting, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and turnover activities.
  • Experience building collaborative relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, inspectors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, and decision-making skills with the ability to influence positive project outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of safety leadership, quality management, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to evaluate complex challenges and deliver practical, value-driven outcomes.
  • Experience supporting sustainability initiatives, continuous improvement programs, and operational excellence efforts.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction systems, tools, processes, industry standards, and mechanical/piping best practices.
  • Experience managing mechanical and piping scopes within energy, chemicals, resources, infrastructure, LNG, refining, petrochemical, power, or industrial construction sectors is highly desirable.
